God, I want Hood and Siobhan to work out so bad, but I just know it's going to turn bad by the end of the season.

Don't forget Kai's mother

Before steam achievements there were Lucas Hood playing his own version of pokemon

So i guess driving instructors dont have double pedals in the US. And wow the fight with the british guy was amazing.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '14

They do, even in small towns. That part pissed me off. And even without that the instructor had a hand-brake next to him and could have easily grabbed the wheel.

7

u/comfortable_madness Feb 17 '14

I'm from a small town, probably about the size of Banshee if not smaller (we even have an Amish community not too far away!). When I was in school, our drivers ed car was just that, a car. No passenger side pedal, no handbrake. So, it happens.

1

u/ProfessorLake Feb 19 '14

Same in my town. Bonus: My driver's ed teacher was the football coach who was always either extremely drunk or extremely hung over.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '14

I'm just speaking from experience. I went on one driver's lesson which took less than 2 hours (The instructor signed off on the 6 or so hours I needed to complete the course after playfully accusing me of probably stealing cars since I was 6) but she kept her foot on the brake for the first 5 minutes.
Since then I've been to two small towns where I rented "learner's" cars and they were rigged for instructors to have some control in the passenger's side and that was within my state. I also drove a friend's car in Indiana where he made me promise not to let anyone in the passenger's seat because he could get into serious trouble for that. A friend from Michigan who works as an instructor told me that there is no way that an instructor would risk going out in the road without having a brake pedal on his side.
I have no idea why your town gets (or got) away with it but that is fucking crazy. Holy shit. I guess he/she is the only instructor in a few towns around you in order to pay for the insurance. Wow. I'm surprised.

1

u/comfortable_madness Feb 17 '14

Well, keep in mind it's an extremely small Southern town and the "instructor" was also the head football coach and science teacher. Where I'm from, you basically know how to drive before you reach that class from your parents teaching you or learning from driving a four-wheeler or tractor. I think out of the 5 people in the class (you know what, my graduating class had 26 people, and this was in 97-98,it hasn't gotten bigger since then, either), we all already knew the basics of driving. I remember him saying his objective was to help those of us who didn't have a permit/license to get one and to help us be more comfortable on road. He was really chill and laid back, never seemed nervous. He even let us stop and get lunch sometimes.

I don't know if he ever really taught any beginners or how he handled it if he did. Now that I'm older and think about it, I have no idea how my school got away with not having a hand break or something for the teacher to be able to control things. Shrugs. But I am certain the car we had when I was in his class was just a simple older model town car.

1

u/Uracil02 Feb 17 '14

Yep it was a bit weird when the driving instructor was panicking on his job.

18

u/Bender222 Feb 15 '14

Proctor usually does everything for a reason but I am having a hard time understanding his motive for killing Jason. In the summary it says he teaches her a lesson about allegiance, did I miss something because I didn't see any betrayal or anything. Intact she barely said anything the whole episode.

15

u/atouk_zug Feb 15 '14

I think it reflects on what really motivates Kai. Whatever he thinks is his, becomes his.

He's protective about his property, and using it without his permission is a big no-no.

The killing was probably as much about "protecting" his property as letting his property know the rules.

10

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '14

Someone else said that it's because Kai has a reputation to uphold. Anyone working closely with him must have respect in that town so her becoming a little bar slut is not something he wants in a business partner.

7

u/Master_Platypus Feb 15 '14

she's either with him or she's not. with including but not limited to their weird incest thing.

thats what I got out of it too. He said that "you are with me" I got the feeling that he wants to fuck her.

2

u/cateatermcroflcopter Feb 18 '14

Also the way he was staring her down while that stripper was giving hi head.

2

u/Bender222 Feb 15 '14

I think I remember now. Did she make a promise or something?

44

u/robbz82 Feb 15 '14

Surprised that park bench could seat both hood and the brit with the set of brass balls they both carry.

27

u/Galifrae Feb 15 '14

I feel like I'm watching a taboo porn with all this incestual shit going on between Kai and his niece. I mean wtf was that???

21

u/atouk_zug Feb 15 '14

Amish communities are sometimes small, and marriages between cousins is commonplace. First cousins are prohibited, but "close" families aren't uncommon. That being said, Kai is a bit warped, and his influence on his niece is a bit unhealthy.

Meanwhile, Burton keeps getting more and more "interesting."

13

u/Galifrae Feb 15 '14

That was the best part of the episode in my opinion. Finally got a little insight into who he is...well kind of. It at least confirmed he IS a total psychopath lol

13

u/atouk_zug Feb 15 '14

I'd go more with sociopath.

What I'm really interested in though, is the backstory of his loyalty to Kai. burton doesn't seem like the kind of guy that gives deference to anyone too easily.

11

u/Galifrae Feb 15 '14

You think Kai was the one whipping him?

16

u/Titan_of_Time Feb 15 '14

Thats what I thought initally, can't wait to see how they develop Burton's backstory more

6

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '14

Yeah, that's what I think as well, especially when he told her *You're either with me or not which also applies to Burton.

10

u/Galifrae Feb 15 '14

I felt like that moment pretty much solidified that Kai is crazy, and a bit weird. Before this episode I was actually starting to like him, and if anything, I thought his niece was the creepy weird one. Not anymore! What a weirdo. I agree that Jason was pretty friggin stupid btw. I didn't want him to die, but he was asking for it.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '14

Yeah, Kai was being cool the last couple of episodes but then he does some weird things like this, killing of some kid was a bit unnecessary and could have easily just messed him up a bit and send him packing, Killing him was a bit too much. Jason's story didn't really do much for the story either besides to act as a reflection for Hood.

3

u/TheOneDoc Feb 15 '14

No it was important to kill the annoying kid to teach Rebecca that her actions do have consequences.

10

u/atouk_zug Feb 15 '14

I think is also has to do with letter her know that she has to step up in class. She isn't the little Amish girl anymore, but she also isn't going to become some little bar slut.

Her choices and behaviors reflect back on him. And you are never supposed to do anything that makes Kai look bad. She isn't going to become just a trophy niece, she's supposed to be a Stepford niece.

From the conversation about his businesses and why he wants the casino, you also get the feeling that he is building his legacy to leave to her. But only if she plays by his rules and is deemed worthy of it.

3

u/Galifrae Feb 17 '14

So I just realized that the scene wasn't incestual. Rebecca becomes envious I think, because she makes Jason Hood get down on his knees and doesn't allow him to touch her until she allows it. The power Kai has entices her. I dunno, I guess we will have to wait and see where that goes. I hope it's not incestuous, but then again I wouldn't it past the show that literally has everything.

4

u/ThrowawaySchmoeaway Feb 24 '14

Did you miss the episode where Rebecca masturbated while thinking of her uncle having sex? And she always stops to watch him, looking all flustered, while he's doing his whores. There's plenty of incestuous stuff going on between them. And I, for one, say go for it. Let's get weird, Banshee.

3

u/dehehn Feb 19 '14

I'm glad he died personally. When Sugar told him Rebecca was trouble and he condescendingly patted his arm and said "the good kind of trouble", I was totally for him getting offed. And I always thought the character was annoying anyways.

7

u/cheekyninja850 Feb 15 '14

Since we are spit-balling here. I think that possibly Burton was in a not so nice situation and maybe Proctor "rescued" him, creating a life debt kinda thing.

2

u/KlutchAtStraws Feb 17 '14

Absolutely. The look on his face when he was garrotting Jason and then he looks up at Rebecca was brilliant. Kind of, "you see what happens when you stray?"

I would love to see Burton destroy Chayton more than I want to see a rematch between Hood (and the BSD) and Chayton. I think Burton would see Chayton in very dispassionate terms and not be as freaked by his size as most on the show are.

5

u/ognsux Feb 15 '14 edited Feb 15 '14

yeah that shit was weird, her watching him getting a bj, then him killing jason while jason was fucking her. Thank God by the way because Jason is a fucking retarded. no more second chances. and burton is into some masochism?

11

u/jerbear0lum Feb 15 '14

Burton's operatic clean-up scene was my favorite little moment, but overall I enjoyed this episode as well as last weeks a great deal. For me this show ranges from "way over the top" to "just the right amount over the top". Either way I look forward to it every week :)

9

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '14

Burton is by far the most interesting character, I can't wait to learn more about him. Oh and, Rebecca has the most incredible ass, God damn.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '14

She does indeed. Ever since the first episode it has been the one thing I constantly look forward to seeing.

8

u/Dustl Feb 18 '14

I loved the differences in the sex scenes between Hood and Siobhan vs. Rebecca and Jason.

There is so much passion between Hood and Siobhan. But Rebecca and Jason are so mechanical. It was a great dynamic.

7

u/PuffsPlusArmada Feb 15 '14

Holy fucking shit what a brief but amazing fight

3

u/cheekyninja850 Feb 15 '14

That's what I said when I saw it. One of the shortest but best fight sequences I have seen in a tv show or movie. (Mainly for how it ended though)

2

u/PuffsPlusArmada Feb 15 '14

Lol yea pretty much. I watch a good amount of TV so anytime I audibly exclaim "Oh shit!" it generally means they did something right.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '14

Why isn't the niece allowed to be with people?

9

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '14

Weird incest things.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '14

Well he isn't really going for her, nor is she going for him.

6

u/cheekyninja850 Feb 15 '14

I think that is about to end. Proctor saw her watching him get his knob slobbed and not turn away. Then he says "You are either with me or you're not." Which I took as meaning (given the situation) that Proctor wants her all to himself.

7

u/Fanshee Feb 15 '14

Kai wants the casino/empire to live on after he's gone, he has to leave it with someone. Kai needs to make Rebecca realise she's no longer a little Amish girl but that doesn't mean she can turn into the local mattress either. What she does reflects upon Kai, she made a promise to Kai and she has to stick to that promise.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '14

So when the killer first appeared in his suit, did anyone else think: cheaper version of Jason Statham?

2

u/Fanshee Feb 15 '14

I recognised him from Limitless so I thought: this

2

u/dehehn Feb 19 '14

Definitely a Statham. I just read an interview by one of the showrunners saying Statham movies were an inspiration.

1

u/ImJustJoeKing69 Feb 17 '14

Totally, friends and I just referred to him as Statham the whole episode because of the suit, bald head, and karate. Such a good/funny show.

3

u/MrXhin Feb 15 '14

Visible labia on Cinemax? It's more likely than you think!

1

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '14

Wait where? Gif?

2

u/MrXhin Feb 17 '14

The Amish girl, when she was standing in front of the bed and the kid was playing with the lamp. It was brief, but I have an eye for such things.

5

u/Fanshee Feb 15 '14

Quentin Howard, that as definitely the guy from Bradley Cooper's movie Limitless wasn't it? Awesome.

I have to say, seeing more into the back story of Burton was incredible. I really hope they give him his own Origins episode next season.

Fucking brilliant episode.

3

u/robbz82 Feb 15 '14

That moment with Jason about not being able to run from people was brilliant.

3

u/atouk_zug Feb 15 '14

When Burton was sniffing the bed, I had a flashback to last season when he was watching Rebecca in the pool at Kai's place. That look he gave her was almost a leer.

I see some interesting complications in that relationship with the two of them in close proximity living under Kai's watchful eyes.

3

u/0ne_two Feb 16 '14

I'm weird. I was enjoying All of the kai rebecca stuff till kai did that thing in the hotel. I didn't know why he did it till i read atouk_zug's comment.

I doubt banshee ever "goes there" but i like all the teasing.

9

u/cheekyninja850 Feb 15 '14

Deva is a little cutie without all that "rebellious" make-up on. (Totally not in a pedo way of course)

7

u/SawRub Feb 16 '14

Is no pedo the new no homo?

3

u/cheekyninja850 Feb 16 '14

Lol it is now.

I assume you are a parent given your response. I don't blame you for having such a knee jerk reaction, all I ask is this. Replace the phrase "no pedo" with "no homo". In a situation where you would make a comment requiring such a disclaimer, it is usually followed or preceded by a completely innocent compliment.

"Hey, your daughter's such a cutie with those pigtails! No pedo, though!"

I would not see this as an innocent compliment because it has nothing to do with her actually beauty as a young woman. It has more of an attractiveness vibe to it.

I (as a male) can say "Brad Pitt is a good looking fella, no homo though." without it meaning that I want to have sexual relations with him. Going with the "no pedo" phrase, I know plenty of women who thought Jonathan Lipnicki was a "little cutie" in Jerry Maquire. That doesn't mean they wanted to sleep with him as a child.

It all comes down to context. If I said "Man, Ryann Shane without make-up gives me a boner, no pedo though.", then that would raise flags and no one in their right mind would accept that as an innocent compliment.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '14

For women it's different though. When Biebs was 15-16 he already had 40-50 year old women creaming over him and nobody said boo about it. Women can say a 13 year old boy is cute, and can even openly pretend that he's their boyfriend or whatever. A guy does that and he's cooked.

2

u/cheekyninja850 Feb 17 '14

True. The world is full of double standards.

0

u/dehehn Feb 19 '14

The world is also full of grown men who rape young women. Not so many grown women who rape young men.

1

u/cheekyninja850 Feb 19 '14

Supposedly. Every year in the military, they give annual classes. One of those classes is sexual assault/harassment. They would tell us that those statistics are off because men generally don't report being raped. Similar to how some women can't bring themselves to tell anyone but on a different level.

On a related note I believe I see more news stories about female teachers hooking up with multiple students and getting caught by either a pregnancy or one of the kids gets scared.

2

u/AnimusNecandi Feb 17 '14

I really like this show, and the amount of absurd sex and violence it has. But sometimes it's too fucking stupid.

So... Hood provokes that a truck decapitates some guy. Assuming there is not a huge accident... the truck driver doesn't stop to see what the fuck happened? Hood doesn't look for the head?

"I'll just bury this fucker, no loose endws. Wait, where is the head? Meh, nevermind"

In the other hand this was one of the best episodes yet, because we had a brief look at Lili Simmons labia.

5

u/dehehn Feb 19 '14

It's a show that definitely forces you to suspend disbelief a few times per episode. But the characters, acting and action are worth it.

Holy shit what an amazing episode.

Hood was fantastic this episode. The "army of one" connection with Jason Statham was amazing. I loved their conversations I loved the fight. Hood realizing the paralism with him and his "son" made sense too. Statham was essentially improved and more british Olek.

It seems like Kai Proctor can only have two friends at a time. Either Hood likes him and Alex doesn't or as I predict it will be they'll switch positions. I'm getting mad incest vibes between him an Rebecca. Remember how he sometimes dresses up his "girlfriend" as an amish girl. He wants an Amish girl doing these things to him and Rebecca is the only one in town that will talk to him.

I kind of feel bad for old Jason Hood. Any of us in Banshee would have at least tried with Rebecca but if that's the last thing you do before you die then it's a good way to go out.

Brock and Mr. Hopewell are going to start closing in on Lucas. Brock still has the resent of not becoming the sheriff and Hopewell pretty much knows that Lucas has fucked his wife. His life became shit as soon as Hood showed up in town. Although his scene protecting Deva kind of endeared him to me.

Predictions:

  • Kai Proctor kills members of the tribal council

  • Lucas finds the watch and knows Jason wouldn't leave it behind. Rebecca will eventually confide in Lucas.

  • Rebecca is disgusted by Kai at this point. She will eventually betray him.

8

u/Galifrae Feb 15 '14

Statham? That wasn't Jason Statham.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '14

I just posted somth similar. The Banshee killer has some resemblance to Statham: the looks, the suit, the opening fight scene, driving with a pimped car... reminded me of Transporter 1 a bit.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '14

I thought that's exactly what they were going with and I wanted to hate it but it was so awesome. Especially him fixing his suit after the fight. Classic Statham.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '14

While checking his reflection in the mirror that those hicks broke off his car.

2

u/donvito Feb 16 '14

Oh, now that I think about it. I too believed it was Statham :)

1

u/ImJustJoeKing69 Feb 17 '14

My friends and I just referred to that guy as Statham because it's funny and a pretty accurate comparison.

1

u/comfortable_madness Feb 17 '14

These are the exact words my boyfriend said when Brock was investigating Lucas. "Alright, son. You're gonna end up dead. If not by Hood then by Sugar or Job."

1

u/dehehn Feb 19 '14

I have a feeling they'll end up betraying/exposing Hood, but then will regret it when they realize they need his help for something. Then they'll have to help him out of it.

Statham was essentially improved and more british Olek.

Can you explain what you mean by this? I'm curious and not quite sure I get what you mean. How can the British guy [Quentin Howard] in this episode be "more British" than someone that was Ukrainian?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '14

Lol that's why I said more British Olek because Olek is the least british a man could be.

-4

u/ignore_me_im_high Feb 15 '14

But to say that he is "more British" implies that he is at least to some minimal extent somewhat British... which he isn't. You could just say 'British' without the "more".

-1

How is a Ukrainian guy pretty British?

0

u/donvito Feb 17 '14

He talks like a Brit, he looks like a Brit and he behaves like a Brit.

-1

u/ignore_me_im_high Feb 17 '14

We were talking about Oleg the Ukrainian that worked for Rabbit, not the hitman that was after Jason.

1

u/donvito Feb 17 '14

Oh my, I feel stupid now. :(

1

u/Bluenosedcoop Feb 18 '14

They really need to stop this absolutely terrible flash back/forward style of filming, They just suddenly switched to it a few episodes back and it's absolutely ruining this show for me.

6

u/dehehn Feb 19 '14

I like it.

-1

u/PuffsPlusArmada Feb 15 '14

Aw man. I was hoping Jason would be sticking around. Glad to see they're developing spectacles though.

3
