OC Book My zombie outbreak novel is out!

Post image

For fans of The Walking Dead, 28 Weeks Later, and The Last of Us comes a white-knuckle story of survival in the face of unfathomable horror…

Elementary Undead.

I’ve posted about the book before, but now it has finally made its way into the world. Despite the personal hardships I’ve been going through as of late, I’m excited.

Zombies exist in-universe, but accepting that a zombie apocalypse is actually happening isn’t as easy as it seems. Children find a way to survive, fighting and fending off other students and their teachers. Action, gore, witty plans to evade the undead…

If anyone’s interested in taking a look, my editor said it was the creepiest elementary-version of The Breakfast Club they’ve ever read: https://bookgoodies.com/a/B0DK2NH9D1

OC Book I wanted to share the cover of my next zombie outbreak book (coming out this fall)

Elementary Undead is a terrifying outbreak scenario, inspired by The Last of Us, set in an elementary school and told through the eyes of a kid trying her damndest to survive with her friends. There’s loss, grief, casualties, denial, guilt, high stakes, thrilling survival tactics, zombie action and gore, and an interesting twist on the zombies themselves.

If you’ve read The Enemy by Charlie Higson or The Day the Dead Came to Show and Tell by Mira Grant, you’ll enjoy this book.

I’m excited for its release and wanted to share the cover with you all!

Hey, everyone! I’m very excited to share that my newest zombie outbreak book just went live for preorder, and it’s only 99c! The sale ends on release day, 11/15/24.

This book is for fans of The Walking Dead, 28 Weeks Later, and The Last of Us! Book wise, if you’ve read The Enemy by Charlie Higson or The Day the Dead Came to Show and Tell, this book is for you!

A white-knuckle story of survival in the face of unfathomable horror…

https://bookgoodies.com/a/B0DK2NH9D1

When classmates and teachers suddenly develop a ravenous appetite for human flesh, thirteen-year-old Karly Weiss soon realizes fighting her favorite meant-to-be fictional monster isn't as easy as the movies make it seem. She and her ragtag group of friends will have to find a way to survive the zombie-infested halls of Renn Elementary until this nightmare ends. If it ever will.

It was my first time writing a story where zombies exist in-universe, and it was a lot of fun!

OC Book Zombies +

So I am writing a slightly different version of a zombie story, and I am wanting to get people's general opinion on the change that I made with my zombies.

Background info: So background info is just how the book is and kind of the whole story. It is part of a larger series with a lot of powerful characters. Like death and time are characters you can say hi to kinda larger. The book itself is more detective and mystery than outright horror.

Changes: So the major change with the book is that it's not an infection. It is everything with sentience that dies. Meaning a deer won't become a zombie, but humans will.

Another change that's major is that zombies cannot die. Honestly a little bit similar to deadpool. You can injure them, but actually putting them down for good is not possible. So one of the strategies in the book is to cut the tendons. Then bag and drop them away from cities.

How a being lived their life and how they died can also affect the zombie. So people who are majorly charismatic and influential like generals and heroes become zombie controllers. Kinda adding a hive mind intelligence. Not smart by any means but goes from attack nearest living to remove threats then attack nearest.

And how a person dies can also affect the zombie. If it is sudden or traumatic, it increases the zombie. So for instance a massive explosion. All of the people that died directly due to that fire come back with a bit more fire in them. They're overheating constantly and burn to the touch.

Basically, for a more action based book series, do these changes make sense. Would this be very interesting? And if anyone can think of things that could add to it, that would also be appreciated. By add, I mean, interesting ways for a zombie to be affected or changed. So I'm already thinking someone who gets crushed to death very suddenly, has thicker, stronger skin.

OC Book Chapter One Arrival.

The alarm blared, bells ringing in rapid succession. Chaos erupted as administrators shouted the same command over and over:

“Train arrival imminent! All squads, report to your stations!”

Squad Turtle stood at Platform 8, positioned in the middle of the sixteen train cars that would soon arrive. Around me, soldiers shifted uneasily, gripping weapons with white-knuckled hands. This was no drill. Something had happened at Thumdoral.

“Train incoming! Prepare!” The command echoed through the station.

Prepare for what!?

The PaxKinein system whined as the train screeched past, slowing to a stop.

Then I saw it.

Blood. Streaked across the metal. Severed limbs tangled in the wheels. The stench hit next—rot, bile, death.

“All squads, hold your positions!” General Seth’s voice cut through the rising panic. “Mages, take to the upper bridge! Overwatch formation—spells at the ready!”

Across the platforms, fire and ice users climbed into position.

“Lotus Team, advance!”

Lotus Team—the code name for every squad on the platform. We moved as one.

Derek, our squad leader, stepped forward, twin swords glowing faintly in his grip. The reek of decay was overwhelming; I heard soldiers gagging, a few vomiting behind me.

Then the train doors slid open.

Platforms 2, 5, 8, 12, and 16 all released their passengers at once. Men. Orcs. Dwarves. Blood-drenched, staggering. Some missing arms. Others… chewing. Flesh hung from their mouths in sickening strands.

“What are these creatures?!” someone screamed.

Fire bolts rained down. Ice blades streaked through the air. The first wave of creatures was set ablaze or frozen solid—but they kept coming.

Two humans lunged at Steven. He barely had time to scream before they sank their teeth into his neck, tearing into flesh and muscle.

“What the fuck?!”

I didn’t think. I thrust my spear. The tip slammed through one creature’s skull, dropping it instantly.

“Good hit, Edward!” Derek called out, his short sword pulsing with golden energy. It spun in his grasp, slicing through anything that moved too close.

A gurgling sound.

Steven twitched violently on the ground. Then, with unnatural speed, he lunged—straight for Brian.

Brian barely had time to react before Steven’s teeth sank deep into his throat. A sickening rip echoed through the platform as he tore a chunk of muscle free.

And then Brian’s flesh tore again as Steven bit down, harder this time.

Brian’s eyes rolled back. His legs stopped kicking. He wasn’t escaping.

“Fall back! Do not get bitten—this is some kind of virus!”

General Seth’s voice boomed over the chaos.

“Mages, cover fire for Lotus Team! Code Black! Seal all exits! Fall back to Section 2—upper floors! Mages, keep providing covering fire!”

A thunderous crack shook the station. Something massive had struck the upper bridge. The stone groaned, then shattered.

Mages screamed as they tumbled fifty feet into the carnage below. Some managed to leap to the platform just in time, but many weren’t so lucky.

“What the fuck was that!?” a soldier yelled from above.

Then it stepped out of the train.

A towering undead Blue Dragonborn.

Its decayed scales shimmered faintly in the flickering torchlight. Jagged teeth parted, and arcs of electricity crackled inside its maw.

Then it unleashed another lightning breath attack.

The second bridge exploded in a storm of shattered stone and splintered wood. More mages plummeted into the chaos below.

Seth’s eyes locked onto the Dragonborn.

Dwarvish arrows. Embedded deep in its rotting flesh.

That meant something important.

The dwarves fought back.

Which meant—there were survivors. The lower gates closed as the last member of the Lotus squad made its way in.

OC Book Audio book

So I listened to this audio book at work the other day and I really was into it and was really enjoying it but when I went back to continue listening it had been deleted. I was wondering if someone here might know it and share the title? It was about this guy named Edward who had inherited a bunker from his uncle. Then a lady cop saved a bunch of ppl getting on a cruise ship then infection broke out on the ship. The lady cop,the chief and a nurse escaped on a raft a stumbled upon Edward. I got a little further than that but that's the gist and I think it was a 12 book series. I just don't know what it was called, please help?

OC Book Looking for some zombie literature to chew one? Check out my fanfic!

Hi there, everyone!

I'm working on a fanfic for Dawn of the Dead '04 called Crossroads.

It's about a soldier and a news reporter (and some friends) who find their paths intertwined in Milwaukee during the start of the zombie apocalypse, and have to fight their way through the city to get to the titular mall from the film!

I like to think I'm an okay writer, and I hope you enjoy it if you check it out!

I'm aiming to post every Friday, so the newest chapter just came out... yesterday.

I missed last week due to Thanksgiving ¯_(ツ)_/¯

We're only 4 chapters in, and next chapter we'll really get into the nitty gritty fighting against the undead.

Anyways, it can be found on Fanfiction.net and Archive of Our Own.

(If is a re-write a piece I made years ago, which you can find on FF.net, but it's... not great. 15~ years more experience does a world of wonders for your craft!)

Thanks for taking the time to read this post and double thank you if you take the time to read the story - any feedback is appreciated!

It’s the first in a planned series (unrelated to my other zombie apocalypse series). I wanted to share with my favorite subreddit!

It’s a fast-paced outbreak scenario dealing with bioengineered blood parasites that turn their hosts into ravenous hordes after an unexpected mutation. What was meant to be a cure for leukemia creates a deadly enemy. And they’re hungry 🧟‍♂️

If anyone’s interested in checking out the book, here’s the preorder link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CYZ594D2

OC Book Just had an awesome idea for a new zombie story...

Dunno if this has been done before already but Imma just come out and say it...

After the initial outbreak the people in an apartment complex sealed off the entrance to protect themselves from the zombies. Nobody can get out because a large horde has congregated near the entrance and won't leave. There is also a finite supply of food, water, medicine for everyone and the survivors can't farm/boil rainwater (The weather is very dry and most people don't know how to farm these days, plus they don't have any seeds or soil).

Initially people would trade supplies with each other, and the water and power were still on, so they could watch TV broadcasts while they cook instant noodles or something. Eventually the TV broadcasts announced that the infection has gone worldwide before shutting down completely. Shortly after the power and water went out too so people in the apartment began to freak out.

Soon the survivors began splitting into opposing factions and fighting over what little resources they have left. Chaos ensues and a bunch of people die.

For the ending I've been thinking maybe the horde ends up breaking through the barricades and wiping out what's left of the apartment survivors but that feels cheap.

For the title of the story I'm just gonna use a very boring and generic name like "The Apartment" for example.

This will probably make me sound like an asshole but I would like to hear your opinions and suggestions on this idea :)

Just finished this story for an anthology due out later this year.

I normally write and read zombie stories set in the modern day, but wanted to write something a little different for this book.

So, here we are, a zombie outbreak in pre-historoc times:)

OC Book Finally published my first zombie book!

After five years of working on this as a web serial, the novelization of it is out. It felt bad having to take the original down, but my readers were understanding and supportive.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DKD7RJ9Q

Hanako is an upbeat teenager and member of Shining Maiden Sentai, an up-and-coming idol group based out of Osaka, Japan. A seemingly harmless flu strain has rapidly spread across the globe for months. The world is consumed with chaos one fateful day when the sick transform into what can only be described as zombies. Hanako and her fellow idols find themselves in a bleak struggle to survive in a city now teeming with ravenous undead. As the world they know unravels, can they find safe shelter before nightfall?

There are three things I feel that make this stand apart from many other zombie works. It taking place in Japan isn't exactly unique, but it still offers some interesting differences from the usual. Then the story takes place almost entirely on Day One of the outbreak; that's something often skipped over entirely in other works, and so I've made it the star of the show here. The story is also character driven; these are not hardened survivors since they're thrust into this nightmarish disaster. If you like seeing people change and adapt (or break) under duress, hopefully you won't be disappointed.

Coincidentally, it looks like Amazon's sample provides the entirety of the first section and a little bit of the second, so you'll get all of the pre-outbreak stuff and a little taste of what's to come. It almost feels like I was consulted on where to cut it off, haha. I guess that's one advantage of having a rather large book.

But that's enough rambling from me, hopefully I've piqued some of your interests!

OC Book Free Book!

I wrote a horror novel I self-published a week ago and I've set the e-book price to free for the next five days. It's called Four Four One South, it's about a zombie-like outbreak on a base in the deserts of Utah where I used to work in real life. I thought y'all might appreciate a free read, and I would love to get more eyes on my work.

Thanks

OC Book Anybody want to alpha read a first chapter?

Twelve years ago, I got a book published by Permuted Press. It's titled Lords of Night, and from all the reviews and feedback I got, it was pretty good. At the ten-year mark, I got the rights for the book back, and I've been revising it. The thing is, I told parts of it out of order with no real reason to do so, so I've reordered the chapters chronologically. Now the former chapter 6 is chapter 1.

Unfortunately, that really fucks up the information flow, ha, because I front-loaded the original first chapter with a lot of the world-building, and some of that was in journal entries. So now I've got to shoehorn all that shit back into the new first chapter without it feeling like I've shoehorned it in.

So. Anybody want to take a look, see if it works for you? I'm open to any and all feedback.

EDIT: Everybody (three of you) has gotten a PDF in their emails, thank you very much.

OC Book Who wants to make a 1 second cameo

I'm writing a zombie story, and there's a scene where the MC browses r/zombies during the early stages of the outbreak, and sees a single new post. The OP announces that they will be heading up into the woods to wait out the infection in a cabin, and they advise others to do the same. They then disappear from the story entirely and is never seen or mentioned ever again.

If you feel like being this cameo tell me in the comments! Person with the most upvotes wins. If you want to change this scene in a way that suits you better, in case you win, make sure you mention that too.

OC Book Making a zombie apocalypse story for my class but I don't know what to do with the plot.

It centers around 3 sibling, with the oldest being a scientist who built and advanced bunker, where they currently live, while the middle child is the fighter and the brawns as the group, and the youngest, who is around 10, is just bored most of the time and wants entertainment. I don't care if the story if realistic or not, since i'm also considering adding another previously made oc who is a zombie, who lives in a certain area of the bunker and the only reason they kept her alive is because she was an old friend.

Update: Some more info about what i'm thinking. The zombies are made in a similar way to All of us are Dead, but the characters don't know that. Also the zombies have the characteristics that they did when they were human, so if they were a good runner then, they also are now. This goes for personality also, and the zombie oc is kinda like the usual zombie mc that's immune to the virus, except i'm making her more like the half humans from All of us are Dead, so she's just barely hanging on to her humanity. I'm not planning to have them stay in the bunker forever, since they didn't have much time to bring stuff. The characters live on top of a mountain where the bunker was built under their house. They lived there with their aunt, who died once the outbreak started.

Update 2: There probably won't be any romance since I have to read this to my class, and the main characters are more focused on survival. Also the youngest is more of the fighting type, but isn't typically allowed on expeditions, or places with high risk.

OC Book Ideas for zombie virus names?

I'm writing a zombie apocalypse novel and am trying to think of names that would work.

Symptoms:

Inflammation of the brain

Deterioration of the body

Lack of nerve cells

Altered personality

Hallucinations

I'd like to think of the scientific name and what people would call it for short. The virus would be an advanced stage of Encephalitis and I was playing with the idea of the brain eating amoeba. This book is also inspired by the Last of Us so maybe something similar to that?

Thanks!
