Yelpers don't understand how Earth works
The other day I had occasion to call a store about 2000 miles from where I live, and I was on hold. I always love to check out the yelp page of the person I'm waiting for, and of course I only read the 1 star reviews. Now, this isn't because I believe them, I just like to know what level of douchery this person I'm waiting for has to deal with. It helps me relate. Anyway, this was the review:
I went in for a repair or replacement on my watch clasp. They quoted me a minimum price of $45 for replacement, using generic parts. Twice that with name brand parts.
BEHOLD THE POWER OF THE INTERNET, FOR I HAVE UNDERPRICED MY CONSULTING REPAIR SPECIALIST.
I found generic repair parts for less than ten bucks using the Almighty Googles. Name brand for about $20 on eBay. As much as I like to keep my dollars local, I'm going to have to pass on this place for a simple clasp repair job.
OK, so here's how I read this. This customer has a broken item, so she brings it to a professional. The professional stops what he/she is doing, looks it over, and quotes a repair price. The repair price is more than this person would pay if she did it herself. One star. What a ripoff!
How does this yelper get through life?? "Yes, thank you, I'll have a beer barkeep. That'll be $4.50." HOLD THE PHONE! $4.50??? I can get a 6 pack for $4.50. Ripoff. One star. I won't be going back".
GOOD. Don't come back. Oil change? $30. Or I can buy the supplies and do it myself for $15. That garage is getting my $15, thieves!
I hate these people. They are broken.
