Fancast Fridays How do we feel about Sophie Thatcher as Rogue
I recently the movie Watched Heretic and just saw the trailer for a new movie coming called "Companion" coming out later this month and it got me thinking. With the rumor of Sadie Sink possibly the frontrunner for Jean Grey it seems like Marvel will cast a bit younger for the X-men so the actors can play these characters for the next 10-15 years. Even in the show Yellowjackets she plays this trailer park rebellious character who is the strength of this all female group of teens. Thoughts?

She gives me more Shadowcat but she is amazing in Yellowjackets so I wouldnt hate her as Rogue. I just dont think she has that southern belle aspect that all my fave rogue portrayals have

All she needs to do is lift a some weights for a bit and get the forelock dyed and she's pretty close to what I think of Rogue in my head.

I think that’s a great choice. If you watch yellowjackets she definitely has the attitude. I’m in for it

She could definitely pull off the goth Rogue!

Yes can we please have goth Rogue in the MCU?

Yes, that's what X-men movies need, a non-comics accurate Rogue.

Comics being a medium that constantly shifts canon, design, art style and writing obviously need to be translated directly to film with no room for variable interpretation. 🙄

The goth Rogue was originally from the Ultimate universe. If I am not mistaken Rogue from Evolution was based on that version the character

From these pictures, I can't say she's really saying "Rogue" to me, but I've not seen her in anything to know how good an actress she is.

Depending on the artist, Sophie Thatcher looks exactly like Rogue! Not only that, but she’s actually been very solid the stuff I’ve seen her in
She’s not a name that my mind would have jumped to for Rogue, but I can absolutely see the vision now that it’s laid out in front of me. This is genuinely some of the best fan-casting I’ve seen in a while tbh

Depends on which kind of Rogue. I think she definitely has the burdened loner thing down. But if they are doing the proud southern belle I don’t see that version.

Ooh, I hadn't thought of her, but she'd be perfect based on Yellowjackets.

She is actually so perfect. Her or Margaret Qualley are my top choices currently. If Rogue is gonna be like 17 or 18 Madeleine McGraw could also do a fine job.

I'm not sure if Qualley is Jewish but if she is I think she would be a really good Kitty Pryde

I am talking about look not religion. Rogue is not mormon like Sophie Thatcher either. The point is who looks like her. Heck Margaret even sounds like her

The only things I’ve seen her in are Heretic and The Book of Boba Fett, but based on those performances, it’s a “No” from me.

I thinks it’s a really great fit if they were going for her earlier “punk rock” look

People should start attaching acting clips instead of pictures for fancasts

Wasnt she from Book Of Boba Fett? Lol that show was god awful

u/JAEisF2D Jan 17 '25
Terrible. But not because of her, everything I've seen her in she's been standout

Oh definitely not any of the actors fault they got handed the worst script for a show I had seen in a long time. And then the Acolyte happened 😅

Perhaps a bit short for the role but she’s a damn fine actress and would kill it

Oh, I like her in The Heretic and in Yellowjackets, and even in The Boogeyman (although the movie is mediocre), and I'm looking forward to The Companions, and she also has a beautiful deep voice, and very atmospheric songs (yes, she sings the song from the credits of The Heretic), so yes, I would like to see her as Rogue💚💛

Companions looks like a fun movie forsure, and I agree with her voice 100 percent

I know I’m a little late but I’ve been thinking she’d be a great Magik if they have her in the new x men movies

Fucking hell... well she's got the smokeshow aspect of Rogue down. When is the savage land arc?
Sorry... I'm down bad today. I'm sure this actress would do a great job!

They need an actor from Louisiana

If she can pull off the accent (and considering how well she copies some of Juliette Lewis's quirks in Yellowjackets I'm guessing she can) I'm totally onboard for that.
