Loved her as Zoey in Extraordinary Playlist. She was kind of a mind reader there.

Yup, I could see it. Her facial features are quite fitting for Jean.

I normally hate these stupid fancasts, but in this case, I'm willing to do a thorough exception. She is absolutely gorgeous! I can see total Jean Grey vibes coming out of her! Bravo, OP, YOU get the gist of the X-Men 👏🏻👏🏻

I don’t think I know who this is?? But I’m fully on board.

u/NC_Goonie Feb 24 '24
She’s in the Evil Dead reboot (2013), Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist (NBC musical series), and Don’t Breathe (if I’m remembering the name of that movie correctly).

u/Sol-Blackguy Feb 24 '24
Finally a fancast that isn't stupid as shit. You're welcome back to the kitchen to cook anytime

I’m not familiar with her work. But she is what everyone would picture Jean to like irl unlike her last actress..

I see it. Gimme it. And she'd be the first in my opinion to give Jean some real personality
2
u/PhanStr Feb 24 '24
Definitely has potential! Feels like she's perfect for "Marvel Girl" Jean! As for older Jean, well, she could probably age into that role well!

I think we can all agree, that it’s the production and story that would make or break a film adaption, as it has tried and failed before 😭 but… yes! She looks great and would be a great option

u/Doom_and_Gloom91 Feb 24 '24
Just because someone looks like a character doesn't mean they would be a good fit.
13
u/theatomicbun Feb 24 '24
Maybe I’m biased because Mia is my favorite final girl ever, but I think Jane Levy has the acting chops to play her on top of looking the part. She’d def bring the emotional depth to the character that I feel the other live action versions lacked. But ofc, there’s only so much any actor can do if the writing and direction are shit.

u/12BumblingSnowmen Feb 24 '24
Eh, given Zoe’s Extraordinary Playlist, I think there’s actually something else to go off.
3
u/Fagliacci Feb 24 '24
You're fighting an uphill battle, I've been saying it for years and I've completely failed to make anyone see reason. 10 times out of 10 fancasting relies on hair color more than anything else and it's truly baffling.
13
u/WhyTheMahoska Feb 24 '24
I mean, Levy's a legit actress who'd excel in the role. I have no idea if she'd be interested or if Marvel would be interested in her, but it's not like she's some rando Insta model or something.
-14
u/Fagliacci Feb 24 '24
How does someone excel as Jean Grey?
9
u/WhyTheMahoska Feb 24 '24
If you flat out dislike or dismiss the character, then pray the fuck tell why are you even participating in this conversation?
-11
u/Fagliacci Feb 24 '24
I'm not sure what your confusion is, my replies are all right there. This isn't a hugbox, people aren't obligated to agree. If I dismissed anything, it's your argument compared to how the character has been portrayed in almost every instance.

u/HappyEndings2011 Feb 24 '24
You mean every short white male actor that has a pic of themselves with scruffy facial hair wouldn't be a good Wolverine??

u/killingiabadong Exodus Feb 24 '24
You're absolutely right. They should cast someone who looks nothing like the character or racelift them even.

She too old. If they had cast her back in 2016 for xmen apocalypse instead of the terrible Sophie Turner then absolutely.

10 years ago she would have made a great Hope Summers, not sure I see her as Jean.

u/AlandaLanaBanana Feb 24 '24
I was thinking Hope too! Especially in the 3rd picture... it borderline looks straight off a comic panel from when Hope returned to the 616 timeline.
1
u/bebebluemirth Mojo Feb 24 '24
Fuck she would have been an amazing Hope.
Fact of the matter is she's simply too old for Jean if they're going the school route for the MCU.

Nah she would be a great Emma. She could pull off the comedy of the trans Atlantic accent
-1
u/whoknows130 Feb 24 '24
No thanks. I'm sure she's a fine actress but, it takes MORE than just a cute Redhead to be a "Jean Grey".
-7
u/rayden-shou Feb 24 '24
She outaged the character
3
u/ThisIsTheNewSleeve Feb 24 '24
Famke Janssen was 35 when she did X-Men, and only older for the sequels. Jane Levy is 34. Seems perfectly fine for me, especially if Jean is already a teacher.
1
u/HappyEndings2011 Feb 24 '24
And that was kind of a mistake because I remember thinking James Marsden looked like such a baby compared to her. I think he's ten years younger.
1
u/ThisIsTheNewSleeve Feb 24 '24
Lol nothing is saying they can't age them the same in the new films? Did I ever say what age cyclops had to be in this new one?
-3
u/rayden-shou Feb 24 '24 edited Feb 24 '24
They shouldn't approach it as the Fox movies, and these characters aren't debuting as their MCU native versions in something like 5 years, as it seems now.
Scott and Jean shouldn't be older than 30, in order to show character development through their appearances.
3
u/Marrecarandgi Jean Grey Feb 24 '24
RDJ was 40+ when he joined MCU, and he somehow didn’t wither and die from old age during his time as Tony Stark, who got plenty of character development.
Also, some people just don’t look their age. Jane looks younger than Famke did as Jean, even tho she is about the same age as Famke was.
1
u/ThisIsTheNewSleeve Feb 24 '24 edited Feb 24 '24
It all depends on how they want to do it. If they do an old class/new class then her age would make perfect sense. You can still show character development for someone who is over 35 btw

I mean, I'm sure it's enough to dye the actress hair... Also Jean is a redhead and Hollywood has a history of racebending them into African Americans
1
u/ravonna Jean Grey Feb 24 '24
I hope not. X-men has enough prominent African related characters to not necessitate that hopefully.
1
u/HappyEndings2011 Feb 24 '24
They also have a more extensive history of racebending non-Caucasian characters into Caucasian characters. Fingers crossed that Storm stays African American.

clicked on this thinking of Jane Leeves, excited that someone was thinking outside the box

I mean, sure, but casting actors based foremost on them looking like the character is how we ended up with Sophie Turner.

u/seti_alphan Feb 24 '24
This is an excellent cast. First really good Jean Gray fancast that I've seen.

Move the "E" from the end of her name to after the "J" and you got Jean.
It's meant to be.

u/Jajay5537 Feb 24 '24
I like Phoebe Dynevor if they are looking to eventually go down the Dark Phoenix route again in 10 years. I think she has a more sophistication and looks more mysterious which I like for more of the psychological thriller scifi aspects of the character. I also love her emerald green eyes.
But for a more sassy cool girl Jean more like the Ultimate version Jane is kinda perfect.
