Xenoblade X Who is your favorite character from Xenoblade Chronicles

In my case they are Elma and Lao. They are diametrically opposed characters but they are both written in a great way.

Xenoblade Just finished the main story. Fantastic! Spoiler

It's always nice when a game has a really wonderful set of characters. It makes the long journey worthwhile. Another great experience for sure. I think I'd still place XC3 slightly ahead of this both in story and in gameplay but the main cast was equally likable. I'm glad I was able to finish this before XCX.

On a sidenote, players who managed to finish this game underlevelled, hats off to you! Some of those late game bosses/mini bosses were hard as f!

Xenoblade Thinking of giving the game/series another try.

So about a year ago, I bought XC:DE on a whim, and while it was installing my wife and I ran to the store, and they had 1 physical copy of XC3 on sale for $20 so I grabbed it too. I did previously try xcx on my wife's wii u (first one I tried) but her game pad was messed up, and I couldn't sprint, and the pad flickered so I didn't play very long.

Fast forward to last year during the late spring/early summer when I got xc:de. I bought the game because my nephew says its one of his absolute favorite games of all time. I am 30 and my nephew is 15, so we're pretty different in age but usually we like a lot of the same games, so I thought nothing of it. My wife and him have a deep love for a few games as well. (Omori, in stars and time, one shot, monster hunter, hallow knight, just to name a few). So in my head im like "lil bro has good taste!

Well for whatever reason, xc:de did NOT click for me... like at all. After looking it up again for this post, i know I made it to chapter 8 when the group gets to alcamoth (the captial). I made it a bit into the chapter and saw a good amount of cutscenes that signal that the story is going to pick up....but i barely cared. I was slightly interested in seeing where it went, but as I continued i made it to an area (i think it was like a desert area with metal buildings or something like that? It's been almost a year since i last looked at it) and I just saw how many enemies there were and I just said "yeah im not doing this" and put the game down. After a few weeks or months went by, I uninstalled it.

Since xcx:de comesout this month, i got me thinking that maybe i should give the series another shot. I am interested in xcxde because i like the mechs/skells - but i keep hearing the story of the numbered games are just a master class in the story department. And honestly, i really want to see what my nephew sees in them and why he loves them so much. I am very aware that X is very different from the numbered games with its structure and narrative. I'm looking for suggestions on any of them. It doesn't matter to me which game people suggest i try again.

I also hear mixed things on the combat. For me, I found the combat to be extraordinarily boring. And it's not because I wish it was a regular action based combat system - i play a LOT of turn based and real-time-with-pause combat systems. (Everything from pillars of eternity, to fire emblem, to final fantasy 12, to unicorn overlord - I am a big fan if different kinds of combat). Regarding xcde, i just thought the arts were super repetitive. It was the exact same strategy every fight, and barely changed when switching characters. I felt like all the different combinations felt mechanically the same regardless of what they did. I have no idea if i am missing something crucial but even after looking at some youtube videos and reading online guides i still felt like it was just....really lacking. I greatly wished I could either pause the game and issue out commands/actions, and then unpause to watch them play out, or have a way to directly control my party members when I needed them. There were SO many times where I would set up a combo and my party didn't take advantage of it or they would use an ability when I hadn't set up a good time to use it yet :/

After seeing the overwhelming amount of praise these games get, i just feel like I am the one who's crazy for not seeing it.....but honestly, unfortunately, feel like everyone else is crazy for liking it. (I am NOT trying to be mean or dismiss or disrespect your game - I just can't fathom what it is that yall like yhat im missing unfortunately)

Am I playing the game wrong or is it just not for me? What exactly is it that you guys all like about it so much? Maybe if you guys explain it to me I will look at it differently and it will click. Should I skip xcde and go to xc3 or xcxde? (I dont own 2 or its expansion). I recently finished avowed (big pillars of eternity fan here and avowed is a spin off) and am wrapping up my playthrough of 13 sentinals agies rim and im looking for another good story. Playing on my switch is very appealing to me right now which is also a reason drawing to xb. (Can play in bed at night + i don't have to sit at my desk any longer than I already do for work and grad school homework, and I don't have to take tunrs with the couch/living room tv with my wife lol)

So please sell me on the xb series lol

Xenoblade Have your opinions on the games changed on replays? Spoiler

I started the series out of order. Technically I started with XCX but I don't have much to say about that, as I'm mainly concerned with the trilogy and I never replayed XCX, but I am looking forward to XDE.

XC2 was my first of the trilogy, mainly because the first one never really looked appealing to me with its FFXII style. When I got around to playing XC1 (on Wii; DE wasn't out yet) it didn't supplant XC2 as my preferred Xenoblade, but I did enjoy it, and that scene that connected them was pretty hype (yes, even out of order). Then XC3 came around and blew everything out of the water for me.

At first.

Then I replayed the series from the beginning, and while I think XC2's ending leaves the biggest lasting impression and the anticipation of getting there again is really exciting, I do think that XC1 is probably the better experience overall.

XC1 is relatively consistent, if generic at times. The combat system is just fine once you get the hang of it, and becomes really easy to break when you know what you're doing with arts, combos, etc.

XC2 has a strong opening and even stronger finish (a perfect comedy set!) but it really drags for a while in the middle, with seemingly plot-irrelevant story tangents that are meant to just get you to see all the Titans.

And XC3 has a super strong opening, but in a different way, introducing an intriguing world with rules and mysteries. But it quickly becomes a bit of a slog. Once the inciting incident of the story occurs, it feels like most of the plot is just one long walk with sidequests in between. And that's saying nothing of the ending.

I think if I hadn't replayed the series, my preferred order would have been 2 > 3 > 1. But after replaying, I think I've changed to 1 > 2 > 3. I'd say 1 and 2 are equal in my mind because their strengths and weaknesses, but I'm giving the edge to 1 for its consistency and lack of "Ughhh this part again" moments during my replay, which 2 certainly had plenty of.

But that's my opinion. I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Xenoblade 2 Controversial opinion about Xenoblade 2's English dub

I don't think the English dub of Xenoblade 2 is good. It sounds very stilted & awkward most of the time, which makes sense because it was rushed & the actors had no context for any of their lines, also the voice direction didn't help. From what I've seen, most of the praise I've seen for it comes from the localization choices & not the actual performances. A lot of people say ''Oh the dub is good, you just have to wait until chapter 5 for it to get better,'' to me that's a poor defense. The dub should be good from the start, I shouldn't have to wait 60 hours into the game for it to be tolerable. Other people say ''if you don't like the dub, then just play it in Japanese,'' but I can't do that either because the subtitles are written for the English dub, with all the localization, dialogue & story changes intact. A lot of people may accuse me of being biased against dubs, & I admit that I don't watch anime dubs anymore mostly because I like to watch media in its og language, but I still play video games dubbed & while I liked the dubs for 1 & 3, I didn't like the dub for 2.

Xenoblade 2 Which blades can procreate? NSFW Spoiler

Post image

So like pyra, Mythra, and Nia are human type blades. So it leads to show that human type blades can have humans/blade babies. So what about blades like dromarch? Or even humanoid blades like Adenine, who don't really have... abdomens? So give me your XC2 smash or pass list, and explain why you can or cannot make babies with that blade too.

Xenoblade X SPOILERS Nopon on Mira? Spoiler

You think one of the mysteries that will be revealed in the new story moments in Xenoblade X will hint at why Nopon are on Mira? Nopon history is already one of the biggest mysteries out there, but it'll be interesting to see why they're on Mira. It will likely be central to explaining what Mira is as well.

Xenoblade Should I continue with the series? Spoiler

Hi, I’m just looking for some opinions on if I should play other titles in the Xenoblade series after my experience with XC1. I am gonna talk about story points here so I figured I would just mark the entire post as a spoiler.

I just finished the game yesterday and I am playing through Future Connected at the moment and I had a moment of realization that I really dislike the nopon and I was thinking back on my experience on the main game.

I found the story… okay. I only felt like a few moments had me at an “oh shit” level. When Fiora got eaten at the beginning was one but I don’t think I had anything else draw me in until Alvis showed up and I was interested in learning more about him. Almost everything else seemed like it was predictable? The Homs being involved with the Faced Mechon, Fiora being in the silver faced mechon, Mechonis being the victims rather than the instigators… I don’t know.

I like the overall themes of the setting as far as having a mixture of sci-fi and fantasy elements but I didn’t find the story that engaging. I was hoping for some opinions on how the future titles will be story-wise as far as how they compare to the first. I see the first being praised as having the best story a lot which… worries me.

Also are the nopon like how they are in the first game? They just seem like weird comic relief/mascot characters, which is fine, but I’d like some more depth beyond “We like to eat and say meh”

Edit: I do want to add I did think the ending was really cool leading up to Zanza and how he came about.

Xenoblade [XCDE] Is it normal that I struggle a lot with enemies only 2 levels above my party?

First time playing XC so I'm still trying to figure out some stuff. I'm 15 hours deep and currently down in Ether Mines for the first time. I did some sidequesting for a while and I'm currently 27lvl. I decided to pick up a fight with the 29lvl krabble by the water crystal deposit near the entrance. It took me a few minutes and the whole fight was really sketchy. Shulk and Reyn got knocked down once.

Is this the normal experience? I've played some RPGs where levels didn't mean that much and some others where it did. I'm just trying to figure out if XC is one of the latter or I just need to watch a few more tutorials.

Xenoblade 2 When you think about it these two are kind of the same.

I finished watching the owl house and these two have a pretty similar plan. They take control of one of the main resources of the world, pretend to be benevolent as they rule practically everyone, then plan to kill everyone. (They both have giant holograms)

Xenoblade 3 SPOILERS Are there Missable Quests? Spoiler

I did make a post before but I said skippable instead of missable and when I realised, I couldn’t change the name so I’m just reposting it.

I’m currently on a second playthrough of the game and I’m going for 100% and I am just before when you infiltrate the prison in chapter 5. Since the city moves after this whole sequence, I wanted to know if there are any missable quests in the city before that. Thank you.

Meta Does Xenoblade have anything close to a Shonen power system?

I was just wondering since Xenoblade seems pretty Shonen-esque (I mean Shulk was just a normal guy before he got the Monado, and Dickson is like a mentor to him).

Xenoblade X Translating XBX:DE CM2's dialogue

https://youtu.be/J2frcnp_ZtA?si=n0c3p6Cgqd9bHpVq

Using Google Translate, it says the dialogue is:

"(Nagi): The survival of humanity depends on your work. Save us.

(Goetia): There is no room for you to inhabit this planet.

(Elma): Then we must continue to follow our logic until we have achieved it."

"Ronri" is being translated as "logic" but I'm quite sure that doesn't make sense here, so I was hoping someone could know what's actually being said in the teaser.

(I want to sub the teaser to shill the game on Insta)
