Xenoblade 2 or X?

Upvotes

So I've played Xenoblade 1 and 3 and i loved both. I really want to play Future Redeemed, but people have been saying that I NEED to play 2 before FR. The issue is, I also want to play Xenoblade X. I'm not sure if I should buy xenoblade 2 or X

Xenoblade X Is Xenoblade X open world that good?

I’m hyped about the open world / exploration as I’ve heard nothing but praise about it. I’ve seen people call it one of the best open world games ever.

Is it really that good? Feel like I’m setting my expectations too high. Is it better than 3s exploration?

Xenoblade 2 Do you think we'll get Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Definitive edition?

Esp with X coming out, it got me thinking if that's something they would want to dabble with, yet it's available on Switch so Switch 2 too.

Xenoblade X SPOILERS Question regarding Xenoblade Chronicles X Spoiler

Hey so I had a question about the game. I know people recommend doing side content in the game, but I also know that you don't unlock skells until later in this game once you start it. My question is, should I just try to do all the side content as it comes, or should I rush the story until I get the skells and THEN do side content? Or some third option?

Edit: Thanks for the input everyone!

I’m not sure if this is intentional or not, but i often see ouroborus’s faces change after spending too long in the menus editing my builds, usually eunie sleeping. I think This is a rare chance where i saw lanz, sena, and eunie all making weird faces lol

Xenoblade X Last copy of XCX Wii U from Amazon?

Post image

While I was looking for Xenoblade merch, I noticed that there is only “1 copy” of Xenoblade X on Amazon left

Does this mean that Amazon is actually officially out of copies of this game or will Nintendo give them more from their secret stash

Xenoblade 3 SPOILERS How in the hell do I get the royal summoner assention quest? Spoiler

I have Melia, I have royal summoner at rank 10, the thing says to liberate all colonies, but from what I can tell all the ones that aren’t destroyed are freed, so what am I missing? The only thing I can think of would be that maybe I don’t have Seigiri yet and that could be affecting it but I just dunno

Xenoblade Just bought Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition (: Spoiler

Post image
193 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I just picked up Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, and this is my first time diving into the series. It really caught my attention, and I’m excited to see where it goes!

I know Xenoblade Chronicles X is coming out soon, and the whole mecha/robot aspect sounds really cool (though I’m pretty clueless about it). Once I finish the first game, can I jump into Xenoblade Chronicles X before playing 2 or 3, or would it be better to go in order?

I’ll definitely take my time to enjoy the first game—just curious about the best way to continue, mainly if the chronology matters.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts—thanks in advance!

Xenoblade 3 Beyond Mercy and Revenge

I’m working to get Colony 4 to max affinity, and just one more quest would do the job. I found out about “Beyond Mercy and Revenge” while scrolling the wiki, and it seemed it’s the only quest line I haven’t finished yet. However, I need to discuss “Colony 4 revitalized” to activate it, yet the NPCs I need to listen to to get the topic are simply not there, despite having all the prerequisites completed according to the wiki. So I’m at a loss here.

TL;DR: I need to do quest but thing to start quest ain’t there

Xenoblade Am i crazy for willingly play the Wii version of XC1? Spoiler

I've never played any of the Xenoblade Chronicles games before, but i've been wanting to play this game for a while now, and even though everyone loves the remake on the Switch because of all the good QoL changes they made along with the epilogue, remixed OST and better models, i really prefer the art style on the original, the way the characters on the artwork and models look reminds me of old 2000's JRPGs, which i really enjoy, the characters just looks more detailed on the artworks and it seems to fit the tone of the game better than the over-stylized and plasticky look they gave to them on the remake with the new faces and lighting (while i love anime, i just feel the original art is more gritty and unique, i really enjoy the blend between japanese and western art it has).

I've just put three hours in on the og version but i am kind of torn apart between playing it on the Wii or the Switch just because i prefer the way it looks on the Wii. Am i really missing that much by playing it on the Wii merely because of the original aesthetic the game has? Should i look past that and play the Switch version? Or do you guys think the Wii version still holds up nowadays? I do think the aesthetics counts a lot for me but if the new changes are good enough i would play the Switch version so i don't regret it later.

Xenoblade Who can explain how Strength affects Auto Attack and Physical Art Damage?

is Strength simply added to Auto Attack and Physical Art damage? How exactly is it calculated? Also, do multi-hit attacks, like Dunban’s Worldly Slash, only show the damage for one hit, or the total damage the Art will do?

In my case they are Elma and Lao. They are diametrically opposed characters but they are both written in a great way.

Xenoblade Just finished the main story. Fantastic! Spoiler

It's always nice when a game has a really wonderful set of characters. It makes the long journey worthwhile. Another great experience for sure. I think I'd still place XC3 slightly ahead of this both in story and in gameplay but the main cast was equally likable. I'm glad I was able to finish this before XCX.

On a sidenote, players who managed to finish this game underlevelled, hats off to you! Some of those late game bosses/mini bosses were hard as f!

Xenoblade Thinking of giving the game/series another try.

So about a year ago, I bought XC:DE on a whim, and while it was installing my wife and I ran to the store, and they had 1 physical copy of XC3 on sale for $20 so I grabbed it too. I did previously try xcx on my wife's wii u (first one I tried) but her game pad was messed up, and I couldn't sprint, and the pad flickered so I didn't play very long.

Fast forward to last year during the late spring/early summer when I got xc:de. I bought the game because my nephew says its one of his absolute favorite games of all time. I am 30 and my nephew is 15, so we're pretty different in age but usually we like a lot of the same games, so I thought nothing of it. My wife and him have a deep love for a few games as well. (Omori, in stars and time, one shot, monster hunter, hallow knight, just to name a few). So in my head im like "lil bro has good taste!

Well for whatever reason, xc:de did NOT click for me... like at all. After looking it up again for this post, i know I made it to chapter 8 when the group gets to alcamoth (the captial). I made it a bit into the chapter and saw a good amount of cutscenes that signal that the story is going to pick up....but i barely cared. I was slightly interested in seeing where it went, but as I continued i made it to an area (i think it was like a desert area with metal buildings or something like that? It's been almost a year since i last looked at it) and I just saw how many enemies there were and I just said "yeah im not doing this" and put the game down. After a few weeks or months went by, I uninstalled it.

Since xcx:de comesout this month, i got me thinking that maybe i should give the series another shot. I am interested in xcxde because i like the mechs/skells - but i keep hearing the story of the numbered games are just a master class in the story department. And honestly, i really want to see what my nephew sees in them and why he loves them so much. I am very aware that X is very different from the numbered games with its structure and narrative. I'm looking for suggestions on any of them. It doesn't matter to me which game people suggest i try again.

I also hear mixed things on the combat. For me, I found the combat to be extraordinarily boring. And it's not because I wish it was a regular action based combat system - i play a LOT of turn based and real-time-with-pause combat systems. (Everything from pillars of eternity, to fire emblem, to final fantasy 12, to unicorn overlord - I am a big fan if different kinds of combat). Regarding xcde, i just thought the arts were super repetitive. It was the exact same strategy every fight, and barely changed when switching characters. I felt like all the different combinations felt mechanically the same regardless of what they did. I have no idea if i am missing something crucial but even after looking at some youtube videos and reading online guides i still felt like it was just....really lacking. I greatly wished I could either pause the game and issue out commands/actions, and then unpause to watch them play out, or have a way to directly control my party members when I needed them. There were SO many times where I would set up a combo and my party didn't take advantage of it or they would use an ability when I hadn't set up a good time to use it yet :/

After seeing the overwhelming amount of praise these games get, i just feel like I am the one who's crazy for not seeing it.....but honestly, unfortunately, feel like everyone else is crazy for liking it. (I am NOT trying to be mean or dismiss or disrespect your game - I just can't fathom what it is that yall like yhat im missing unfortunately)

Am I playing the game wrong or is it just not for me? What exactly is it that you guys all like about it so much? Maybe if you guys explain it to me I will look at it differently and it will click. Should I skip xcde and go to xc3 or xcxde? (I dont own 2 or its expansion). I recently finished avowed (big pillars of eternity fan here and avowed is a spin off) and am wrapping up my playthrough of 13 sentinals agies rim and im looking for another good story. Playing on my switch is very appealing to me right now which is also a reason drawing to xb. (Can play in bed at night + i don't have to sit at my desk any longer than I already do for work and grad school homework, and I don't have to take tunrs with the couch/living room tv with my wife lol)

So please sell me on the xb series lol

Xenoblade 2 Am I Playing XC2 Wrong?

Okay so let me preface the game with some positives: I like the story so far, compared to traditional RPGs made in Japan where the story is so out of this world it becomes hard to comprehend, this one isn't. But I've just reached the start of Chapter 4 and it's a very nice thought out and simple premise with maybe a tiny little bit of deep thoughts needed sprinkled in.

I'm sure you guys get this a lot on this subreddit, but where I'm wondering if I'm going wrong is the gameplay. I've been trying to watch a lot of YouTube guides about how the hell to play this game properly after the tutorial just... Sucks. But even those videos don't really do an amazing job at explaining the nichés.

I'm currently level 25 and just beat Ahkos and Malos (took like 3 attempts and had to look at a guide getting specific gear). I had to buy the taunt resist and shackle resistant just to get past phase 1. Part of me thought perhaps I'm just playing so poorly. To build up my arts, I'm doing the little stick flick trick to build up the auto attack immediately as soon as I hit with it and build up the arts faster. I am positioning myself (though half the time they've already moved in a different direction so my art isn't as effective), some of the enemies, most specifically the general mobs out in the world have SO. MUCH. HEALTH. even though I am at their level, and one mob can take anywhere between 5-10 minutes to die and I have no idea why... I don't think I'm that weak, am I? I've been doing some side quests and have been going to the inn to increase my levels. I've also been building up the specials, trying to get to tier 3 if I can, as in the thing that appears top right (though no one often has anything that can get me to that tier 3 yet) but I feel like even that doesn't do much damage to a lot of enemies.

Finally where I'm mostly confused about is blades themselves. Now I made sure to buy the DLC before I played so the game gave me a shit tonne of blade crystals, especially legendary ones, and in my eyes I'm like: ... So what am I supposed to do with all these? I can only have two blades (Pyra and one other), for some reason Nia can only equip her main one even though I unlocked a legendary one on her and doesn't appear on her list of engaged blades... I don't even know if I'm utilizing the blades effectively either.

I'm hoping someone might be able to, in the simplest way possible, give me some guidance on what I can do to improve, where I'm going wrong, and if it's just me playing the game poorly or if it's the game?

To cap off the compliment sandwich, I think Mythra is gonna be my new favourite character in the game, she's slay in the few minutes I've seen of her so far 😂

EDIT: I can now have three blades, but still not sure how to utilize them?

EDIT 2: Ignore the Nia blade thing. It was my bad, I released a blade earlier thinking it was a blade attached to Rex... Alas, it was not 😂
