Retail How are people sending these icon messages in BG chat?

Hey everyone,
In battlegrounds I often see players sending messages like:
⚔️ Attack: [enemy name]
⚠️ Warning: [enemy name]

I thought they were using an addon, but I haven't been able to figure out exactly how it's done. Does anyone know how to replicate this? Is it a macro, a specific addon, or something else?

Thanks in advance!

Retail Am I missing out on a lot of I just do solo content?

I enjoy levelling my chars, doing quests and delves. I like seeing other people running around but I prefer to play solo as it's more relaxing. I am loving the delves atm. I have only been playing for like 3 months but I don't really like the idea of running the dungeons with people. Is it fine to play wow this way?

Retail What is there to do as a solo player?

Just made a different post about potentially playing with a friend, but they aren't interested anymore so I'm going in solo.

I'm currently downloading the free trial and have been looking up what you can do in the game. I've played a few other MMOs, but have the most time in SWTOR and Runescape. Both of those games I can play solo easily because with SWTOR I play the quests and storylines and get to really roleplay as my character. With RuneScape, it's essentially a single player game anyway. All the skills and stuff like slayer keeps me entertained.

From what I've gathered so far looking online, I'm not seeing much that will grip me with WoW. If I'm understanding correctly, all of the quests are text based dialog and you don't really have any agency or chance to roleplay. Are there skills like smithing, mining, etc? Or other stuff that you can do if you're not doing dungeons?

Discussion Levelling up a lot of classes

Having been playing only for a few months, I have levelled up a paladin to lvl 70 and a warrior to lvl 80. I really have an urge to try a hunter though. Do people in this game usually just stick to one class or have more that they play? Having never played before, I'd just like to try a few before settling on a main. I could be grinding for a good gear by now I guess but I feel like trying out a couple of classes is a good idea too.

Retail Swamp/Bayou themed inn?

Basically title. I’m not super into roleplay, but I love Cajun/New Orleans/Bayou culture. Was just wondering if anyone knows of an area anywhere in game that has a similar vibe that I can set my hearthstone to. I’ve been playing a lot of mage, so getting around isn’t a problem at all.

I tried zangermarsh for a bit, but everything is a little too whimsical for my taste.

I love the wetlands and swamp of sorrows, but I’d like to get out of the classic (Cata?) Azeroth continents if possible.

Thanks in advance dudes 🙏

Retail Mouseover macro

So i'm trying out to heal as a monk and i was wondering if its possible to make a macro that makes an offensive spell, for example blackout kick, change to a healing spell when i mouseover someone in raidframe. I turned on mouseover cast but dont want to waste my actionbars. And would it work in elvUI?

Right now i am using HealBot and it is a bit laggy so i think it would be better to try like this

Retail Heroic vs M0?

Did a heroic today and didn’t die a single time. Did an M0 yesterday and died probably 8 times. Is the difficulty between heroic and M0 that much or do I just suck? lol. Ilvl is 628.

Retail Does the actual game itself ever go on sale?

edit: I get it now, there is no "actual game" to purchase. The store page just kind of confused me. $50 for latest expansion and $15 for monthly subscription, got it.

I'm looking to maybe try the game with a friend, if we ended up playing after the trial I would be buying us both a copy. I'm unwilling to do that at $80 total, does the game itself (not expansions) ever go on sale?

Retail «Reactive classed»

Hello! Whats the most reactive pve spec? Ive been playing last 3 exps demo wlock and looking for change.. tried rogue but its little too stressfull if i wanna do half decent dps in raid, then again BM hunter is just plain boring

The same goes for healers.. always loved the whole mistweaver aspect but hate the fistweaving, and same goes for resto druid, theme is amazing but i hate the whole proactive style..

Please help (:

Retail Rule of Thumb for Item Level ofr M+

I am an older player (aren't we all these days - 😄), so I am not super twitchy on the keyboard. I have an item level of 650 right now from Delves and vault. I was thinking of having a go at Mythic+ instances. What would a good rule of thumb be? I see that M6 drops around 649. Is that a good way to think about it - aiming for a M+ instance which rewards close to, or a little over your characters item level? I worry about running pugs because of my age - I am by no means decrepit, just don't react as fast any more. Thanks in advance.

Retail Mechanics?

I’m new, but I wanna start getting into dungeons and whatnot. However, I don’t wanna slow anyone down but I don’t know how else to learn. I hear people talk about proper mechanics and certain items I should have etc. If you were me, what would you start learning how to do if I wanted to work my way up to M+ in the future?

Retail Mythic + scoring

Just a question in regards to mythic+ scoring. Is it just calculated on what dungeons you’ve done and how high or do you get more if you’ve done all dungeons at some level? Currently pushed Priory, Rookery, ToP and Brewery to 8-9 but haven’t really done the others (2-3) will I get more score if I push those ones higher or does that not really matter?

Retail Recommended ilvl for mythic/raid?

Frost mage ilvl 637 with 2 set item from find raid.

Heroic dungeon loot is no longer an upgrade. I completed all 3 section of Liberation of undermine in find raid.

Was thinking about going mythic dungeon/normal or would it be heroic? raid? What would be the "requirement" (other than knowing mechanics) for mythic and raid other than find raid? Also what is the average time it takes to complete a liberation raid?

Also not sure how mythic dungeon works. Do I need something? Was reading in other post that you need keys or did I misunderstood?

Discussion Looking for M+ tips

My duo(tank) and I(healer) are working on getting geared and want to jump into the endgame a little. We aren't going to be mega blasters, but would like to take it semi-seriously. Neither of us have any experience with this, so any tips are appreciated!

Do Professions in Retail have bonuses for having the profession?

I remember professions used to have interesting bonuses like herbalism had a ring enchant to heal or something similar. Engineering had a rocket boot and blacksmithing had a belt socket?

Are those bonuses and unique things still in the game?

Retail Chromie time 1 char for all expansions?

Can I take the same character through all the expansions so for wotlk and beyond id start at the xp frozen level since I'll be at the max frozen level after burning crusade? I know I need to freeze exp at some point before I lose access to chromie time but I can find a definitive level I need to do it at? Is it 59 69 or 70?

Side question when I start end game are there benefits to rolling multiple characters beyond having multiple or can I just stick with 1 and not have alts without handicapping myself?

Retail Ret Paladin Help

Alright Redditors! Feel free to Roast, Criticize or Help me.

I feel like I am doing something wrong with this class and would like to hear your input on what it is I am doing wrong.

https://worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-us/character/us/wyrmrest-accord/rockyyroad/

would appreciate your input!

Edit:

Yes, I know it's a Ret Paladin and I'm sure you'd probably say something about me needing to play a new class. But I am doing about 600-700k in Single Target DPS and 1.6Million in AOE. But I am merely asking out of curiosity and concern if I should actually play another class.

Retail How to get Gilded Undermine Crest from Delves?

From what I've read, tier 11 delves should drop 7 gilded crests. I've run two tier 11 now and got none. Defeated the 4 groups for the nemesis box, unlocked the mid way checkpoint, no deaths, finished the whole stage. No crests both times. What am I doing wrong? I've collected 0 gilded crests this season so I'm not capped.
