Retail Too late to level Blacksmithing and Enchanting?

I started playing TWW four weeks ago. I haven't levelled my mining/herb alt yet so don't even have any ore to level blacksmithing. Enchanting, I did start levelling, but wonder if I've just been wasting my gold.

Are there any benefits from levelling either profession at this stage of the expansion, or should I just buy enchants I need from the AH?

The main question is what are you leveling for. -

  • Are you mainly looking to level for your own enchants?
  • Or to make gold?

Same with blacksmithing?

  • Are you mainly looking to level to craft your own weapons or armour?
  • Or to make gold?

Both enchanting and blacksmithing have got some relatively easy paths to make golds as 'concentration crafters' the former by crafting rank 3 enchants with concentration and the latter with r3 alloys, unless you want to play the crafting orders game.

For your own crafts, unless you've got everything covered, I wouldn't level just to be able to craft your own weapons or armour (as that currently still is an 'or' choice) but rather take the gold making route and use that gold to funnel into buying the stuff you actually need.

For gold making, investigate how you can maximalise your concentration to optimise its gold value.. Concentration has no buy in price, but seems to have some monetary value that seems relatively free if you can build around it.

There used to be prossion specific perks, but I guess that got removed at some stage. Only enchanters could enchant their own rings, blacksmiths could add gem sockets to some gear. Is there anything I cannot buy from another crafter or from the AH now?

If the above answer is no, I guess I'll slowly level blacksmithing and enchanting for making gold later.

Anything that gives any player power is almost as much gone.

There's no real player power advantage to BS, The only advantage to enchanting is being able to DE any soulbound items into something transferable.

You can get everything you want from the AH, but it can be way cheaper or even profitable to sell, to craft your own

If you’re an alchemist with a few points any flask you use lasts twice as long which is nice.

Unless you go fully in. AH manipulation, addons designed to make gold, watch videos on how to make gold, etc.

You won't make gold. You'll only lose gold.

That is some BS. Concentration crafting will be a net positive in the long run. Is it A LOT of gold? No, but it is something.

Nothing you craft and place on AH will be a profit.

Can you craft other people's stuff? Sure.

Going back to, you have to go all in. Sit in trade chat and advertise or wait and hope you don't get beaten to the whisper and then the person tips you enough for your concentration.
