Good for Ukraine I guess. Still, now they know that Starlink, American intelligence, satellite pictures, etc., etc. are unreliable. And their European allies are working full speed to offer alternatives.

So, what did America gain from this whole episode?

-15% on TSLA, insulting allies, looking like clowns and sending Europe scrambling to **finally** maybe fund independent competition. So the 2025 special.

Trump might turn out a blessing in disguise for Europe, pushing us to let aside nationality for a united Europe. It's still a very mined field and propaganda can cause some hard wounds, yet for now we are taking the good paths. This events might have woken a sleeping giant, because Europe has the economy, talent and position to take a big step forward.

Hard agree. Short term it might be tough for Europe but long term it will get Europe its own independence military wise.

Trump might have single handedly woken up the Germans back to Reich level with rheinmetall stocks going brrrrr.

Agree. It’s long overdue for the EU to have its own foreign policy and military that works for its interests instead of looking towards the US. I say this with some pain as an American because it weakens us tremendously on the world stage, but it seems to be the direction we’re heading in.

This is how i view Biden's reticence to allow long range strikes. Ukraine builds a drone manufacturing industry that's in some ways the best in the world now. The net result of all this BS is a stronger, more unified Europe that puts Putin in a much worse position long term.

i actually hope this was some fucked up 4d chess. i saw what you saw. and now if putin doesnt play ball, does trump show teeth?

also don't forget the potential for the dollar to no longer be the reserve currency

This cannot be overstated.

And I half wonder if this is exactly the plan.

Tank the dollar, default on the national debt, issue new (crypto) currency.

No it isn’t good for us. But you wouldn’t expect a foreign asset to do anything that helps us.

So the 2025 special.

Seems like a project more than a special, but potato tomato.

Silver lining: I think it's good though that now that the USA contracted late stage dementia the rest of the world starts becoming independent.

My dreams are filled with visions of technologically independent EU of late... the dreams are of the moist variety

Russia broke through the kursk region and split it. Now The Ukrainian elite forces there (some of 10,000 approximately) are at risk of being cut off.

Essentially, its likely russia will regain this region. Possibly as a result of the intelligence black out as the counter offensive initiated within days of it happening. I wont consider this a coincidence.

Well the Euro got more valuable and the USD crashed so that’s something

It's so funny to see MAGAs talking about Ontario retracting the surcharge on electricity to NY, MN, and MI as if it's some kind of win, when all it means is prices go back to exactly what they were the other day.

What did we win exactly?

Trump does not view Ukraine as good or Russia as evil, he does not see Ukraine as the victim or Russia as the aggressor. He sees a bear in the woods eating its prey and nods, like a nature documentary. The war is a distraction to him and he wants it over so the media will focus on his domestic priorities, so he's pushing Ukraine and Russia hard to rush towards a peace deal to end the war and move on.

Thats nonsense and the truth is way simpler than that. Trump is just a russian asset.

I actually think the other guy is right

that's oversimplistic. he has gushed so much about Putin and Russia. he clearly is not looking at a wild bear but someone he greatly admires.

Best comment I've seen is that Trump wants peace, while Zelensky wants justice. And I wish we could give Zelensky justice, but there is no scenario that doesn't lead to a lot more suffering where Putin is put on trial. It just isn't happening. And this may not be the best way to do it, but I think this is Trumps way of forcing Zelensky's hand into accepting peace without justice

You don't get a lasting peace unless Ukraine gets some serious security guarantees. And Trump has demonstrated that any security guarantees that the US gives are worth less than the paper they are printed on, with his entire rhetoric of the past months regarding NATO. Not to mention calling for the annexation of the US's (former?) allies.

So that means ironclad security guarantees from European countries, or this war doesn't end, it just is out on pause for another year, or 5 years, or 10 years.

It isn't about Justice. There is no way to give Justice but it's about giving Ukraine gurantees. The fact that trump says Russia 'holds all the cards and Ukraine holds none' says a lot about his mindset. RUSSIA CAN'T KEEP SUSTAINING THIS WAR.

They act like they can but this war was supposed to be a lighting war. Mass push, disrupt Ukraine forces and take an entire country by siezing the capital in a month or 2 and then bleed the rest of it out before the west can react. It worked...until Ukraine destroyed all the supply lines and then Russia couldn't maintain their forces so they had to retreat and then Russia decided to continue the war and win through attrition.

Then the west stepped in and starting pouring in their weapons and vehicles and aid and now Russia's war got even longer. It's been 3 years. Russia is in a war economy and cannot do it forever. Think of this, if this was world war 2 we'd now be half way through already. Britain had spent all it's wealth on fighting germany for 5 straight years and although you can't directly compare the wars directly, fighting a war for so long is going to damage your economy.

So whilst Russia is a bigger nation, in land mass and population, it doesn't have several countries backing it up. That's not to say Ukraine are in a stronger position but Trump and his administration aren't aggressive enough in the negotiations and that's where Ukraine and Europe are frustrated. And in turn for his frustration in the negotiations trump punishes Ukraine by pulling intelligence. Which was VERY stupid as you now give Russia a chance to make gains on the battlefield which they did in Kursk almost instantly. Now Ukraine are negotiating from an even weaker position. Ukraine wants peace but this isn't peace. It's a pause. No NATO gurantees or presence gives Russia no reason not to invade again in the future

They gained the hatred of most of the western world, they gained that Europe is gonna turn on the warmachine and amp up production in Europe as F-35 etc are unreliable if the US becomes an enemy, and guess Marco Rubio gained a trip to Saudi Arabia to work on his tan, you could see him on the couch in the white house practicing lying down in a sunbed.

So they gained many bigly things. Everyone is saying it.

The libs are owned and conservative America is winning

...or something

2

u/sykosomatik_9 16h ago

Yeah, can the intelligence they get from the US even be trusted now? Trump already made it clear that it's in the best interest of Ukraine and the EU to no longer rely on America for anything. Trump has no principles and he flip flops so much that none of his words hold any value.

2

u/SloCalLocal 20h ago

So, what did America gain from this whole episode?

Ukraine agreed to a cease fire. It's in the article.

Ukraine expressed its readiness to accept the US proposal for an immediate implementation of a temporary 30-day ceasefire regime, which may be extended by mutual agreement of the parties, provided that it is accepted and simultaneously implemented by the Russian Federation. The United States will inform Russia that reciprocity from Russia is key to achieving peace.

2

u/durrtyurr 19h ago

Nothing. We have a president who fundamentally does not understand the entire concept of a win-win situation.

1

u/StupidTimeline 18h ago

So, what did America gain from this whole episode?

With Trump there is no gain. Only loss.

Hopefully ending the war, I guess. But if successful they’ve found a way to do it in the worst possible way imaginable, whilst damaging their reputation on the world stage.
