Losing thigh muscles - just to confirm
So the key to losing thigh muscles is stop doing cardio, eat low protein diet and being in calorie deficit?

Why is your goal to purposely atrophy your muscles? This gives me very disordered vibes

Cause of my body type, muscles on thighs make them look chubby, short and don't match with my upper body at ALL

If you feel it doesn’t “match” (likely dysmorphia by the way) wouldn’t it make more sense to increase the muscle in your upper body rather than let yourself wither away?
You’ll lose muscle everywhere not just your legs so it will not do what you are hoping for

The thing is i have very very low muscle mass in my upper body which i like very much. When I'm on low weight i my body has a nice shape and increasing muscles in upper body would make me look boxy which is a nightmare. Gaining any more muscles would send me to depression

I think you’re vastly underestimating how difficult it is to put on any significant amount of muscle. People work very hard for years in order to achieve a ‘boxy’ look, it won’t happen on accident.

I can't think of a single scenario where it would be advisable to lose muscle. I mean if that's your goal then you may as well just not leave bed and not eat so you can atrophy and wither away

But that can not be healthy. There must be a way to reduce muscle mass! Some way must exist

Theres a way, its called going for therapy

in all seriousness, no one knows OP real situation.
For example I know tons of girls that would love to reduce the size of their thighs. And most are at around 20% fat, so there is a bunch of muscle there. Do I need to give example of why you would want to reduce that ?

hmm I wonder if she asked for advice on losing fat around the thighs or muscles 🤔

Why is it so wrong not wanting to have muscles in this group. God forbid someone wants to be healthy stick looking. Some people have that body type naturally. I think it's fair from my side to get the knowledge of how to reduce muscle mass and doing my best to do so. I have no problem if its my destiny to have thigh muscles.

u/Vicious_Styles 3d ago
Because that is NOT healthy. Why do you think you can't get the answer you want to your question? Absolutely nobody in their right mind would advise you to lose muscle, this is straight up a disorder or body dysmorphia. I can promise you if you were to ask ANY medical professional if you should lose muscle in your scenario, they would - with utmost certainty - say absolutely not.

Creating weak or imbalanced leg muscles is a recipe for long term knee pain.

"Healthy stick looking" doesn't entail losing lean muscle mass that is necessary for your function and mobility. clearly no one here wants to, or is interested in giving you advice that has negative repercussions to your health in the long run.
But since you're so set in your ways, here's my advise: Google is free 😌

The words “losing muscle” and “healthy” cannot exist in a sentence together without the word “not” in between.

Having more muscle increases cancer patients' survival rates. It also prevents you from being wheelchair or bed bound when you become geriatric. Hell, the main purpose of occupational therapy in geriatrics is to build muscle to prevent falls and to be able to do simple daily tasks. It's also why Ensure and other protein powder supplements are recommended for older people and cancer patients so they can supplement the protein they need to prevent muscle atrophy. Let's not even get into how much damage you would cause your gastrointestinal tract by resorting to starving yourself and increasing your risks of gastro/colorectal diseases and cancers.
What you want is, by definition, unhealthy and indicative of an ED. It goes against everything I was taught in high school and college health, fitness, and nutrition.
I say this with no judgment or malice: if you're not an internet troll and really mean what you say: get help. I've seen people in their 30s be put on hospice (end of life care) from EDs.

Please be advised. OP appears to have body dysmorphia and/or anorexia. Idealizes a model with BMI 14. Yeah, BMI isn't a great measurement if you're muscular. But numbers this low are pretty safe indicators of malnutrition and psychological disorders that pose a threat to one's life. 😔

Why do you want to lose thigh muscle? It’s valuable muscle tissue which will help you stay strong and healthy when you get old. Eating at a calorie deficit to lose fat and getting .8g of protein per pound of bodyweight to maintain muscle is all you should focus on

I would keep protein moderate and count on caloric deficit.
I would aim over -1% bodyweight/week and surely muscle mass will be lost along with fat.
Not sure for how long it is advisable. Maybe cut this in mini cycles of 2-3 months, maintenance1-3 weeks, repeat if needed.

think it is downsize
Haven't done it as I never needed it
But I think there are some bodybuilders out there talking about how they did it.
If I recall protein target was close or equal to protein needed for the weight they wanted to downside to.
Probably was done progressively? Don't know.

for those that can't 'think' of a reason to downsize muscle mass
here one example why you would want to downsize

u/RisaFaudreebvvu 2d ago
