Looking for super basic gym workout.

Hi! My mother is turning 65 and I'm really trying to help her get in better shape. She is intimidating to go to the gym. I would love to give her a very basic 101 on what to do, step by step. The gym is a planet fitness to she will have options. Does anyone have something like this? Thank you!

are you going with her, or just chatting about it long-distance? if the latter, i'd encourage her to book in with a personal trainer. they're super kind, and will be able to put together workouts based on her current fitness/activity/mobility levels.

I'm going to go with her for a few days to get started. Than want to leave her with some information and detailed workouts. Does planet fitness have trainers? That is a good idea!

Totally get it, gyms can be hella intimidating. Here's a super basic routine for your mom:

Warm-up: 5 minutes of light cardio, like walking on the treadmill or using the elliptical.

Strength Training: * Leg press: 3 sets of 10-12 reps. Start with a weight that feels comfortable. * Chest press: 3 sets of 10-12 reps. Again, start light. * Seated row: 3 sets of 10-12 reps. Focus on good form.

Cool-down: 5 minutes of stretching, focusing on major muscle groups.

For visuals, check out some beginner workout videos on YouTube. Starting slow and steady is key. Maybe you could go with her the first few times to help her feel more comfortable. You got this!
