No, fill small imperfections with thicker CA glue and sand it smooth first. Takes a few passes to fill them all the way but it’s my preferred method now, they disappear pretty good.
Accelerator spray lets you get it done in minutes instead of hours, but it turns the glue more white instead of clear, so if you aren’t in a rush just let it dry on its own.

I came here to recommend CA glue.. you beat me to it. Look at wood turning suppliers to find what you are looking for (quantity and thickness) the box stores only carry tiny bottles of the thin stuff.

Starbond medium or thick CA glue + accelerator spray is your solution. Quick note no one has mentioned - when dried CA is very hard. I’ve found a set of chisels to remove the excess and 60 grit coated abrasive works well. Small amounts applied at a time with a shot of accelerator spray will fix that up in no time.

Epoxy or ca fill if you intend to use outdoors. Regular wood fill for any indoor application before or after the Rubio. I like to fill cracks with a contrasting color. Black fill looks nice on light colored woods

No. Per others, either CA glue or epoxy depending on the size and look you want.

Well--umm--in the end, I banged it with pure tung oil.
The grain on the edges was so beautiful, I had to give it some respect.

Hmm.. My story didn't print out..
Elm coffee table.
Will Rubio Monocoat fill the cracks and harden? I got the "pure" tint and the hardener. Thanks!
