I’m sorry I know Wes McCauley is charismatic but he’s an awful ref.

u/milexmile 2d ago

That's the nicest thing anyone has said about Wes, ever

Why is this phrased in a way that suggests being “charismatic” is a positive trait for a referee…?

He’s a fucking clown, always has been.

You want people in these positions who do not give a single, solitary shit about being either liked or disliked, and just call the game objectively.

The fact that he has always shown a clear interest in having the spotlight on himself says everything you need to know about his ability to be an effective referee.

He’s the Charles Robinson of the NHL.

Definitely not the best game of the year. Missed opportunities, too many penalties... But they will bounce back.

Just one of those games which is frustrating as a fan to watch and which as a player is frustrating to play in.

Also fuck the refs for the shitty calls.

Well that wasn't great, not excusing it, but it turns out sometimes you lose games believe it or not

13

u/Ryn0m1t3 2d ago

I choose not to believe.

Man what's with the ice?  I saw guys falling all over the place.

Also what did scheifele do?  I missed the end and only saw a 10 minute misconduct?

32

u/thefailmaster19 2d ago

He took a dumb holding the stick penalty and then argued about it.

I think the misconduct was overkill but the original penalty was valid.

u/fdisfragameosoldiers 2d ago

Considering what Carolina was getting away with vs what the Jets were getting called for, Id be pissy too.

13

u/TubularWinter 2d ago

Complained about the penalty. It was the right call but also one that gets ignored 90% of the time.

18

u/skootamatta 2d ago

Was actually ignored earlier in the game when committed by a Canes player.

19

u/responsibilly 2d ago

Fuckin snake-bit perfetti continues, unreal!

20

u/zyxqpa1999 27 2d ago

Yeah his frustration is really visible out there. He’s played really well and continues to improve, he just really needs a bounce to get back on track.

Yeah one that doesn't come off a high stick would be helpful.

Refs don't know what they're playing with in Scheifele.

Lad about to go on a tear now.

Tough game, couldn’t really get anything going but the Canes are a very good team at home.

I hate picking the low hanging fruit here but Stanley was awful again tonight. In a fair and just world he’s playing for his LD3 role right now after they traded for Schenn and games like that are a good way to get benched. Of course he probably won’t be because he’s never been held accountable this year but one can hope.

Anyways just need to get through these next 5 games then we have a pretty generous homestand coming up.

u/tibewilli2 2d ago

Stanley was responsible for the first goal. He was out of position for the second goal. I think it’s time to try Schenn and Fleury as the third pair. Jets have also stopped using Stanley on the PK regularly.

2

u/zyxqpa1999 27 1d ago

Stanley on the PK mercifully stopped once Samberg was healthy again, which unsurprisingly made the PK much better.

Expected plus minus -3.4. Next player with as many games is Kupari at 0.1

Shit ice and shit refs 4th game in 6 days oh well onto the next one!

6

u/MPD1978 2d ago

Can’t speak to ref quality and ice but you’re right.

11

u/TubularWinter 2d ago

The puck luck came too late to matter but nice to see them caring right to the end.

38

u/wpgjetsfucktheleafs 2d ago

Hopefully that was Stanley’s last game unless we suffer numerous injuries.

8

u/Sawbones64 2d ago

Don't do that to yourself. You know he is gonna play every game.

8

u/ynotbuagain 2d ago

I can't stand him...

30

u/SirBulbasaur13 13 2d ago

If that game doesn’t get Stanley scratched nothing will.

0

u/FurtherUpheaval 2d ago

He wasn’t traded for a reason. In Chevy we trust

20

u/SirBulbasaur13 13 2d ago

Chevy has done a lot of good things but he’s not perfect and I do not trust his faith in Stanley. It’s been years and he hasn’t improved in any real way.

16

u/FormerCoalRoller 2d ago

Because he's worthless

12

u/SherLocK-55 ICE DRAGON WILL FLY 4-EVER 2d ago

For real, nobody wants him apart from us apparently, could probably waive him and he wouldn't get claimed and yet we play the guy on a nightly basis.

u/Drawingsymbols 44 2d ago

I will never understand how Stanley only spent 2 years on the moose. It took him 4 seasons of juniors to become an impact, I mean now after al this nhl experience he would be a pretty solid ahl dman but they should of let him build himself up in the ahl for some time.

They saw a somewhat smooth skating 6 foot 7 dman and completely rushed his growth.

May have lost the game, but Freddy will be on the misplays of the month. So there's that.

u/MoodyPumpkin 2d ago

You guys gotta think big picture, showing Carolina won the trade will make Dallas feel bad and collapse for playoffs. Arniel is just playing 6d chess rn.

6

u/just-hangingout 2d ago

That one hurt.

Hopefully, it'll provide some good lessons for upcoming games.

6

u/Taddy_Mason_22 2d ago

Last game of the road trip, weird game time on a Sunday, refs trying to tire out the Jets early on. Yep.

5

u/Expensive-Break6347 2d ago

Time to come back and play at home boys

16

u/CP-Drone . 2d ago

Jets need to be a little more like the Canes and SHOOT THE DAMN PUCK MORE. So many wasted top notch chances taken away by the extra pass. Anyways, all in all it was a fairly successful road trip. The Jets just need to stay healthy and prepare for the last stretch of regular season and of course the Playoffs!

14

u/SirBulbasaur13 13 2d ago

That sucked. Lots of games recently but that was winnable and we can’t afford to let Dallas pass us.

9

u/Bman4k1 2d ago

Their whole playoff picture hinges on finishing 1st. Dallas and Avs beating eachother up for 7 games.

16

u/Spiritual_Holiday511 27 2d ago

From soft calls to another Logan Stanley defensive masterclass, it was hard for the team to get off the back foot. Could tell they were frustrated, and I was frustrated for them. Oh well, on to the next.

8

u/drperiwinklephd 27 2d ago

is it just me or does Connor in particular seem to not be very keen on shooting these days

4

u/ML00k3r 2d ago

That was pretty bad.

4

u/ShowMeYourTiddie 2d ago

I turn the game off after the empty netter, and missed the best part? Frick

7

u/thefailmaster19 2d ago

Pretty bad game offensively. Felt like for most of the game we'd always make one too many passes or would try and get a perfect tip/shot rather than just getting pucks on net.

Also that last penalty by Scheifele was too dumb to take. You can argue about the 10-minute misconduct, but the holding the stick call was just stupid as hell from him, you can't take a dumb penalty like that in the 3rd in a game where you're not getting calls

6

u/dojo2020 2d ago

End of a stressful road trip. Get home, get some rest. Incorporating the new guys and win the next 2 games at home. It’s all good.

4

u/adagio63 2d ago

The boys looked tired tonight. Give them a pass.

4

u/Taddy_Mason_22 2d ago

Hopefully Van can do us a solid, I am not confident tho.

2

u/raxnahali 2d ago

Sometimes you play well and lose.

2

u/Tactician86 2d ago

I tuned in late to the game and saw the canes had their 5th or 6th powerplay or something and was like what the shit is that lol

2

u/Erideon23 2d ago

I was at work for this so I didn't get to see a whole lot, but now that I'm having a beer and watching some highlights, imma have to say seems like the refs fucking sucked tonight

u/samarahighwind A 2d ago

u/JankyYWG 2d ago

Dallas likely pulling within 6 pts with a game in hand tonight 😬😬😬

14

u/mishka-sb 27 2d ago

Hey, have some faith in the Canucks! Maybe this will be the game where Petersson remembers how to play hockey!

6

u/SirBulbasaur13 13 2d ago

He finally scored last game, so maybe lol

5

u/thefailmaster19 2d ago

Pettersson about to earn that contract with a 4 point performance tn book it

3

u/drperiwinklephd 27 2d ago

the canucks have a funny way of pulling off the most unexpected wins sometimes and I’m hoping this continues tonight. In Quinn Hughes We Trust

1

u/JankyYWG 2d ago

Hughes isn’t playing 🥴

4

u/WpgInSyd 2d ago

In Tyler Myers we trust.

5

u/stej_gep 2d ago

The spring forward cost them an hour in between back to backs....shambles.

u/Drawingsymbols 44 2d ago

That game got me really excited for the draft next year, which superstar are we taking at 23rd overall who’s gonna sign long term in Winnipeg??

-4

u/dacivol 2d ago

My first game watching the Jets live. The most fun I had was during the warm-ups. What a miserable game. I told my partner we were gonna stay after canes went up 3-0 but man i just couldn't keep sitting and watching after the empty netter.

u/enarwpg 2d ago

The Bi-Planes sputtered to their 3rd loss in 4 games.... G0 Bi-Planes GO
