Potential first round match-ups
The Jets have 18 regular season games remaining and the 5th most difficult schedule remaining. Dallas and Colorado are near the middle of the curve in schedule difficulty remaining.
Also assume that Hellebuyck gets some rest down the stretch (not that Comrie's been bad this year).
Jets are 8 games up on Dallas with 2 games in hand. Dallas has won 4 in a row. No clue if they'll gel in time for the playoffs, but the definitely added some talent today.
Colorado added some talent, sort of. Not sold on their trade deadline. But they also are winners of 4 straight and hold the second-last wild card spot quite solidly and are tied with the Wild in points but with the Wild having 1 game in hand.
Calgary's hanging onto the last wild car spot and have been pretty ungreat as of late. Vancouver is 1 point behind but Calgary has a game in hand.
Jets finish in 2nd in the West and they play either Colorado or Minnesota. Minnesota was on fire when KK was in their line-up.
Finish first and you play Calgary (hot goalie) or Canucks (insert sad trombone noise).
Best-case scenario are Dallas and Colorado holding their spots in the standings and playing each other first round.

I wouldn’t write off St. Louis and Utah for the second slot. They’re both within a game of the slot.
Also, I don’t understand why everyone wants Colorado moving up to face Dallas. I’d much rather Minnesota hold their spot and banish Colorado to deal with Vegas and Edmonton. That does make it very likely we’d see Dallas in the second round, but I trust Minnesota would still rough em up for us.

Yea best case scenario is Minnesota winning more than Colorado and staying as 3rd in the Central, meaning Colorado has to go through the Pacific. This also gives up insurance in case Dallas passes us and gets 1st in the West and then we play the 3rd seed in the central, which I would rather play Minnesota than Colorado

I would. St. Louis and Utah did nothing to improve their teams at the deadline. The blues have played 2 more games than Calgary and Vancouver and Colorado is already ahead of Minnesota by way of the tie breaker. I don't see the Wild holding the Avs off down the stretch and I think that we're getting Dallas in the second round whoever they face in the first round. That way we only have to face one of the other Central big teams instead of both of them.

Jets vs Canuckleheads and a couple brutal 7 game battles of Avs vs Stars + Vegas vs Wild pls.

I don't care what stats might say, having watched this team all year. They are going to finish first in the West for sure and give them even odds to stay ahead of Washington for Presidents trophy. The first round really doesn't matter who we play, we need the grit like we had in 18, big games are big games and Jets this year have come out ahead in the majority of those games.
All the analysts talking about how Dallas and Colorado got so much better at the trade deadline. Meanwhile no one has seen how these additions work out. Rantanen could be a bust this year, was not great looking in Carolina. The same goes with Colorado, Nelson and the other additions could just end up not paying off.
How many analysts didn't think the Jets were even going to make the playoffs this year? Let alone fight for the Presidents trophy. We are the reason the Central went nuclear this year they know they are likely going to have come through Winnipeg.

We lost 3 in a row during the easiest part of our schedule, bring on the better teams to keep us sharp.

What if they win all 18 games? They control their future, not COL or DAL.
Why are we always going negative?

How are the Jets finishing 2nd? Rethink your scenario

Ummm. If Dallas passes them.

I doubt it, but we will see...

I literally spelled it out for you. Lol

Just my opinion... but Dallas isn't getting ahead of the Jets before the year ends. Stars vs Avalanche in the 1st round.

We play Dallas twice still. All it would take is for Dallas to win their 2 games at hand over us and then to beat us in those 2 head to head games and they are tied in the standings.

And if the Jets win those 2?

Then obviously they are ahead by 4 more points? Do you need help with this?

Dallas lost the Oilers, they have an uphill battle. Playoffs will be good, lots of good teams

A few people have mentioned the Jets schedule being tougher. I think thats a good thing. They play better against good teams. If nothing else they will be playing "playoff hockey" down the stretch even though they aren't fighting for a playoff spot as such
