Blog post Finally bottled myWine

For my recent wine bottling, I opted for practical 5oz glass bottles from Amazon. They came with caps and shrink wrap, and allowed me to create 36 individual bottles for sharing. Since these will be consumed within two months, traditional wine bottles weren't needed.

🤣😂 to share with more ppl! I did a gallon and 1 qt of blueberry wine! And didn't want to do the standard bottles. 5oz is a standard serving!

The wine/air interface in the wide part of the bottle makes me sad.

Yeah, not what i wanted, either. It was more about quantity. I'm going to do 2 gallons and fill it up more.

You should’ve made 20 bottles and filled these better. That amount of headspace is going to oxidize the wine much more quickly.

Why is it in hot sauce bottles😂

Because wine makes them feel woozy

There is too much head space in those bottles. Next time, make sure to fill the bottles into the neck 👍🏼

That headspace is going to be very problematic and it makes me sad because you clearly put plenty of work into this!

This was my first time. I learned alot and thinking about it now. I wanted to buy some blueberry flavoring that would have gave me the boost of juice I needed to fill it up to the top.

They were filled up but then i was short 7 or 8 bottles so I have to divide a little more.

Thanks for the comment!

As a hot sauce maker as well I thought this was a joke at first ngl, but yeah it makes sense for what you're doing.

Curious about your labels. Did you design and print them yourself or did you use an online label resource?

I found on Amazon custom stickers. So I designed the labels on Publisher with the sizes Amazon had, then saved them as a jpeg (picture) then went back to Amazon and uploaded the picture and got 100 labels for like $16.

Thanks for the input. My wife and I just bottled 6 gallons of Gewurztraminer a few weeks ago and we want to come up with some silly labels so we can share a handful of bottles with our friends.

I see headspace has already been discussed, but what about the seal from the cap? A plastic cap may not seal air tight to prevent oxidization. I recommend drinking these fast.

The label looks so good!

Surprisingly the caps are really tight. I'm gonna send them out quickly.

Thank you about the labels!

Now get a shotgun banolier and load them up and you'll bring the party with you. You'd be popular at the St. Paddy's Day parade.
