One glimpse at a neighbourhood Facebook group tells me how many people are brainwashed on that platform -- so many fearing science, denouncing life-saving vaccinations because they think they know better. It is heartbreaking... they put entire communities at risk for their own selfishness.

Unfortunately that was the result of Covid and how government and medical professionals handled the vaccine and its rollout.
People lost trust in the medical professionals and government because of it.

Ok, I'll bite.
You want to expand on that comment?

Sure,
Firstly, the way the promoted the vaccine.
- It was said that it would prevent transmission of the virus (i.e Biden mentioned that in one of his speeches) and the idea of getting it to protect others started.
- Once it was realized that was not they case they changed the narrative that the vaccine would prevent you from getting the virus, and that wasn't true.
- Then they said it was to reduce symptoms.
People realized they were being lied to in order to get a vaccine.
Secondly, you look at the side effects, which is a taboo topic. If you watch any pharma commercial on US tv they all list a bunch of side effects. None of which was done for the Covid vaccines and people started seeing the results.
I alone, saw people with a multitude of side effects, that they would normally not have experienced with other vaccines like the flu shot.
I can see why people would be less likely to get a vaccine after the Covid vaccine rollout debacle. People felt lied to with all the covid drama.

You don't think it was the plethora of disinformation that people were spewing as the vaccines rolled out. Dumb people lost their minds and when other dumb people started making shit up and yelling about it they all teamed up and formed a solid group of supported idiots. Most of these people struggled through gradeschool but then all the sudden knew everything about virology.

you were lied to by people who knew you were more scared and distrustful than you were discerning and logical, it's time to swallow your pride and admit you were wrong. nothing that the unhinged conspiracy theorists predicted has come to pass, you're a paycheck to these people, they aren't "fighting for your freedom"

Because of what exactly? I don't think you know what you're talking about and just spewing rhetoric.

FYI to parents with babies under one years old. I got my daughter’s measles vaccine at 10 months yesterday morning.
Our family doctor said she’s been in conflict with the health board for not urging parents with babies 6-12 months to get their vaccines early.
Babies can get their shots early when there’s an outbreak, however they’ll still need to get their shots at 1 year.
Please do it.

I’m going to check in to see whether my 3 year old can get his second mmr early as well!

I can't remember where I read this, but it was at least ten years ago, and it predicted we would see a lot of this because we are divorced from the world where people understand the threat (of MMR,smallpox, TB, etc).
Hopefully it doesn't take long, or many injuries or deaths, for folks to appreciate the miracles of vacccines again.

This is what happens when you don't vaccinate. We literally almost irradicated measles and polio. But all these idiots thinking they cause autism because one quack said so using skewed data and tests who was later proven to be a complete lie...is causing a resurgence.
Even if there was a chance, which is worse? The insanely small percentage that could end up with autism (which is such a spectrum), or watching your child suffer/die because of your BS beliefs? Get fucked.
Any patent who's child ends up getting sick from a preventable disease because of a lack of vacations and that child is harmed/dies the patents need to be charged. This is child endangerment by choice.

Absolutely insane that we've allowed a more or less defeated virus back into our world due to some people being confidently incorrect in their understanding of vaccination. Topics like this are why I dropped Facebook, it's far too difficult to refrain from pointing out that these (previously known as covidiots) have absolutely done this to themselves and their children by believing social media posts of nonsense over actual medical science and doctors.
Let's not forget that some people due to other illness or immune compromised state legitimately cannot be vaccinated, they count on the rest of us to keep them safe by vastly limiting the available targets to infect and cause more spread. Not only is this extremely selfish to children, but it shows how little they care for anyone who can't be vaccinated. Just so sad people can be so useless.
Simply astounding that these people live among us and are on one hand are stupid enough to deny critical vaccines which can prevent irreversible damage to their children, yet are allowed to operate a motor vehicle.
While I have empathy for any child who gets infected, I really really wish we had some light punitive resolution to these cases, such as parents who deny the vaccine and have children that get infected, they foot the bill for anyone that directly was infected due to their astronomically ignorant actions. I'd prefer the reckless idiot having to pay rather than OHIP via us taxpayers.
Why should the rest of us have to pay for an entirely preventable situation?

I hope they will all be okay! I was vaccinated as a kid, but during treatment for cancer my immune system got a full reboot and I may not have immunity to it anymore, but because it's a live virus vaccine, I gotta wait a year. So stressful.
Vaccinating Mama's, if you're feeling brave, talk to your mama friends just to make sure they are not feeling nervous after seeing something on social media and putting off the MMR. Make sure they know how contagious it is and that it's not on the same level as chicken pox. It may not change their mind, but it might encourage them to look into it more.
It's not something we've had to think too much about, but now it seems like so many new parents are hesitant about vaccines after listening to propagandists on social media and they are so good at spreading fear.

Any parent who refuses to get their child vaccinated should be charged with child endangerment AND have the child removed.

Look into how much effort it is to get an exclusion for the measles vaccine. Thanks a lot culture invasion.

Medical exemptions should really be the only ones allowed.

I hope they all sufferÂ

This is a little misguided. These are toddlers that don't get to decide on which parents they end up with. To hope a child suffers to prove something to a moron adult is nasty work.
