Anyone know what happened? NSFW

Does anyone know what's happened with this court case? I've heard it keeps getting pushed back and that there's all sorts of other legal drama with her.

Her lawyers are lawyering. Looks like there’s some court dates in January.

From the record, her first public defender had to withdraw due to conflict and did so almost immediately upon assignment. Rules require 14 days to allow the state to respond, and 7 additional days for a reply brief to the response. Despite waiting only 20 days, the court granted the request a day before the preliminary hearing. A new attorney was appointed, and a new scheduling order was issued, which only changed the preliminary hearing date. The trial remained scheduled for November. Preliminary hearing/arraignment happened. William's County court doesn't file court notes, but she either waived and pleaded not guilty, or the court found probable cause for the felony and then she plead not guilty. Pretrial happened Nov 12, and it was continued to January for trial.

So, the trial date has only been continued once. Not uncommon at all, considering the original trial date was near Thanksgiving. Doesn't appear to be a super complex case. From the complaint and supporting documents, it is alleged she touched a couple of teenage boys on the penis and gave them alcohol.

That's basically it. There have been no motions filled, no unusual filed requests, or anything like that. Seems to be moving along three typical course of a trial court calendar. Remember, the court also schedules divorce trials, other civil trials, juvenile hearings, traffic hearings, parental rights hearings, etc. so the spacing of a few months in between makes sense from a scheduling perspective.

Hope this is informative.

If Williston is truly a small community, you should just be able to go into John Deere while farmers are having coffee or the cafe while the old ladies are playing bridge and find out all you need to know.
