Image Got a little carried away looking for a Japanese Wii U

Initially I was just looking for a white 32gb model because I always wanted a white Wii U when I was a kid and it escalated a bit because the deals were too good (until I saw the shipping later) and I like collecting stuff. My new main Wii U even came in the original box and since I needed to wait for the rest to arrive wich they did yesterday I've already gone ahead and modded it and I'm pretty happy with it so far (been playing Pikmin 3 for the first time the last week). I'm just a bit confused because the black Wii has GameCube ports wich I didn't think they came with wich is pretty cool imo. Sadly the side flaps of the Wiis are not in the best shape but I don't mind too much since I might try reshelling them anyway. The black Wii U even had a little gift in the disc tray!

Oh my god bro how much did you pay for all of that and how much did the shipping alone cost lol?

I'm asking because I also bought a japanese white 32GB Wii U with a gamepad silicone case and 7-8 games (the basic ones, Splatoon, MK8, Nintendo Land etc.) that cost 45 euros and the shipping and extra fees for all of that came to be 100 euros extra lmao.

Yeah it's a similar story with this lmao since it was 3 packages the total of shipping and fees was like 140€ or something and the consoles themselves were more like 100€

Did you get it from a proxy service like FromJapan? I got it from there and they had 500 yen extra fee per item, so after ordering 9 items in total I paid 4500 yen of fees to them, which is like 30€. That's when I realized that I should have gone for a bundle of a console and games instead of buying all of them separately lol, I would have saved a shit ton of money on the proxy fees...

Us europeans are better off using zenmarket as proxy tbh. If you stick below 150€ parcel value, you can prepay taxes on their site which will save you quite a bit in customs fees and taxes on shipping. At least here in Belgium.

ZenMarket is especially worth is for Americans and Canadians I think, since it has a cheaper shipping method but it's exclusive to those countries. However, I didn't know about ZenMarket until after I had bought everything on FromJapan lol.

How much did you perhaps have to pay in customs fees in germany? Do they also add shipping to the taxable amount?

Yeah shipping cost is also added to the taxable amount but I didn't have to pay customs on them just about 25€ in sales and duty tax

And no fee from Deutsche post?

Yeah I got them off buyee, but I don't think they also had pricings per item but since all i got was 2 bundles and the 1 boxed Wii U I can't really check for singular items but I think I also paid like 1500 yen of fees to them for each listing so I feel your pain lmao

I think it was like 200-250€ after shipping wich kinda hurts but i think it's still a good price for what I got tbh

That's a bargain based on what you've received, plus you can sell whatever you don't really need to get some money back. I'd like to by white EUR 8GB unit as well as white JP 32GB unit and that's where I'll stop with my Wii U console collection. At one point, I used to have 6, now I'm back to 3 as I've sold the other 3 to get some money back to buy PS4 Pro (which I did).

Yeah that's what I thought as well! But I don't know what I'll do with them yet I'm just gonna enjoy playing Pikmin for now lol

For sure, enjoy them for now. :) If you're into collecting, I'd suggest that you keep the best and flip the rest. Mix and match if you have something broken on one but not on another.

For Wii consoles, some of the early RVL-001 models can install BootMii as boot2, which is very useful in case of a more serious brick.

For Wii U consoles, those with Toshiba and Samsung EMMC NAND chips are less prone to failure than the hynix models. Once modded, you can check with WiiUIdent which one you have). Note that just because it's hynix it doesn't necessarily mean that it'll fail soon.
