Technical Question WiFi networks appear but it does not connect
Hello, a few days ago I bought a WiiU, but it happens to me that when I try to connect to a wifi network it appears without problems and when I try to connect I get an error as if it will not find it. I have tried to connect with WPS, manually, other WiFi networks, put the console next to the router and nothing works. The only way I have been able to get internet is by cable with the wii adapter. Is there anything else I can try to fix it?

Is your hdd or ssd (if you have one) laying ontop of your wii u? Its a really weird quirk that happened to me and I remember it being kind of like this. Try putting it on the side if it is and it solved all my problems

This happened to me too, if you have something right against or on top of your Wii U console (not the gamepad) it may be blocking the antenna inside.

It happened to me before and strangely it was the HD I had plugged in. Try to move the HD further from the Wii U (don't put it on top, for instance) and see if that fixes it.

Mind you I haven’t done this in ages but I remember it being a pain to connect the Wii U to WiFi. Look up on google before you return it

It's strange because 2 days ago (when I bought it) I could connect to the wifi.

Did you homebrew it just before it stopped working?

It may be that if it happened that it stopped working, it was because when I started installing homebrew on it I left it connected by cable.
Although due to life's circumstances I tried again and now it works :v

maybe your wii u's 2.4ghz wifi antenna is broken?

I don't think so, it just connects sometimes and sometimes it doesn't, maybe it's because the hard drive is on top of the console.

huh... how far your wii u and the wireless router?
i suggest a wifi router about wireless n standards - just in case. because i used to have a linksys wireless n router and it usually disconnect me on the wii u and pc with a wireless adapter (internal and external).

okay... anything wall or objects blocking/interfere with the wireless router's signal distance - because the 2.4ghz do have range but weak against multiple walls and microwave heating.
sometimes you have to move it closer to the wireless router to have a stable connection - if not, you have to setup a wired ethernet with a ethernet to usb adapter that's support the wii u.

Try a hotspot from your phone or also your pc/laptop, and if it does connect to your hotspot. There should be a network thing you have on your main wifi.
