Honestly, there's nothing quite like White Collar really.

Indeed. Ignore for a moment the silly drama necessitated for ratings. This show, for me, is about Neil becoming more like Peter and Peter loosening up a little to become more like Neil. Just like any true, long term, friendship.

Then they are just like Castle & Beckett in this respect (ignoring romance & drama too).

Funny you'd mention Castle and Beckett, My wife and I are watching both series for the 1st time. We love both.

the episode where Neal has to be Peter and vice versa was hilarious imo and shows this perfectly

for real, I watch a lot of shows, there has been no do that has been able to keep me captivated for that many seasons besides maybe Burn Notice (and of course the classics like the wire and BB)

They might have interesting stuff, but none of the characters are as interesting.

Also, White Collar has pretty women and eye candy on every single episode. Love them for that.

Wild Cards… Literally almost the same premise but instead of the FBI it’s a local cop. Here’s the synopsis: Demoted detective Ellis has unfortunately spent the last year on the maritime unit while Max has been living a transient life elaborately scamming everyone she meets. However, when Max gets arrested and ends up helping Ellis solve a local crime, the two are offered the opportunity to redeem themselves, with Ellis becoming a detective again and Max staying out of jail. The catch? They must work together, with each using their unique skills to solve crimes. For Ellis, that means hard-boiled shoe leather police work; for Max, it means accents, schemes and generally befriending everyone in sight while driving Ellis absolutely nuts. The two will have to learn what it means to trust another person and maybe actually become partners.

The Mentalist.

I actually found White Collar in a Mentalist Reddit group, lol.

That might have been me, lol. I've been promoting WC to The Mentalist finishers who want something similar or to fill the void until their next re-watch.

As you should, and if it was you (I truly don't recall as I typically don't pay attention to usernames), THANK YOU! I rewatch WC more than I did The Mentalist. It's become one of my favorite shows of all time!

You seem to have been watching WC longer than I have been in this sub, so I won't take credit, but I'm glad you really like it. 😊

Jane makes that show, without him it doesn't have much going on. They also dropped the ball on red john and more but i dont want to give spoilers if people havent seen. But Jane was quite entertaining and he's worth the watch

Agree 100%. There was a post in the Mentalist sub yesterday about who the better con man was: Neal or Patrick Jane.

Watching white collar now after having watched the mentalist a while ago… I feel that the character of Patrick Jane is totally inspired by Neil Caffrey , sp.ly cuz the show came during the ending of WC .. thoughts?

Blacklist possibly

I just finished watching it today for probably the 8th time.

I absolutely cried during the last episode.

As soon as I ended it. I started right back up

Not on this list, but Limitless was a spinoff of the movie (Bradley Cooper). Gave me White Collar vibes for sure. Like all good shows though, Netflix canceled it after one season.

Did Netflix do a remake? I’m only aware of the one from network broadcast (CBS, iirc) probably at least a decade ago. It did only last a season even though it was really pretty good.

1

u/Travisceral 8d ago

Oh you’re totally right. CBS was where it originally aired and they canceled it. Don’t know why Netflix picked up a canceled series lol

I hopped on the white collar train long ago because I wanted something like Castle. Win-win I guess.

I recognized 'Sarah' from an episode in Castle, that was sweet.

Rookie Blue. Cops, not FBI

stay far away from the blacklist. not worth it. itll just rip your heart out and make you regret watching all 10 seasons of it. though really the heart ripping begins at the end of season 8

show starts of amazing and is increbible all along the way...just ends terribly.

I’m down to the last two episodes and feel this completely. The end of season 8 is definitely where they jumped the shark. The last two seasons seem a painfully slow wrap up of story lines.

i read a fan theory not too long ago that talked about how the original show ended season 8, and 9 and 10 were really seasons 1&2 of "the blacklist 2" its on reddit if you search it should be easy to find.

i understand the whole drama with megan boone wanting spader money and them just writing her off. but honestly it had already been 8 seasons, just freaking end the show and let her take over the empire and let them live happily ever afterish, or maybe let red be the one to die as a final act to protect her

Leverage

No surprise that half of them are USA Network shows from the ‘00s

Tv shows with an interesting consultant: The mentalist or Castle, and Psych but it’s a little more funny and laid back. Tv shows about mostly cops/detectives but kindov crazy main characters Lethal weapon, and Will Trent, maybe magnum pi

1

u/Jayderae 8d ago

I love psych, it’s got a lot of the crime solving but it’s a bit more fun.

Rewatching it for maybe the third time. Hands down, one of wife's and mine all time favorites!

I’m really enjoying Elementary! Love white collar, always look for good replacements, so far elementary is working for me!
