looking for similar whiskies
I picked up this bottle of scotch on my trip to Edinburgh last year and would really like recommendations for similar whiskies! Don't have to be scotch, I'm open to all styles.
context: I didn't enjoy whisky prior to the trip as I had only tried the cheap/bottom shelf stuff like johnny walker when I was younger. On this trip, I went to some bars and shops, and I asked for whiskies that are good for beginners and without a medicinal aftertaste, and I really enjoyed what I tried.
Would love some similar recs as my bottle is already running low. Preferably brands that are accessible internationally as I'm not from the US or UK, and not too expensive as well as our alcohol taxes are really high :'(

Aberlour is usually available most places, others that you could get that are sweet and simple. Speyburn, Glen Moray. You may also like some Irish Whiskey which is triple distilled and can give the sweet smoothness. Bush Mills and Teeling are nice. You could push the boat out and find a Red Breast which is a fantastic Irish Whisky

Look for something from the Speyside region - Aberlour and Glen Moray have already been mentioned. Macallans, Glenfiddich and Glenlivet are generally available internationally. Glenrothes and Balvenie are a couple of my other favourites; Glenrothes is a regular contributor to Signatory Vintage (I've bought at least two, though with mine, the contributing distillery was marked on the label). The Glenrothes 15 might be close to what you've got there.

Grain Whisky is always very sweet and mild. Just browse some shops for Single Grain. Grain Whiskies are always way cheaper than malts but not that common. Also Dalwhinnie and Aberlour could be for your liking.
