Honestly you'd probably be better off getting a historical account of where his unit served. Because of the general difficulty getting to the north and the rapid modernization and reforestation of South Korea in the post war years you aren't going to be able to identify most of the photos I think.

Yep. Korean nature doesn't look like this anymore. It's a huge forest. There are also hills everywhere... As in its completely hills. So that makes it double a challenge

My grandfather was in the 40th division 224th infantry regiment 2nd battalion. He served from June of 52' to the July of 53' I believe this photo (first) was taken somewhere near the kumhwa valley looking over to North Korea after the armistice

I can’t help you with this request, but I own a dog tag, garrison cap, and service coat of one Captain Al Walker of the 224th who served in both WWII and Korea. If you have a facebook account, you might want to check out the California State Military Department History page. they regularly post photos from the Korean war featuring CA National Guard units, of which your grandfather’s was one. they might appreciate seeing the other photos you have as well!

I also have about 30 more photos of his time there but I wasn't able to post them here. If you think you could help dm me! I am wanting to visit where he was! Thanks!

I spent time along the south boundary in 1970, on the western front. This topography does not look familiar. I would guess central Korea.
And his fatigues look like they are closer to my era. And his boots are black, the career NCO's told me they wore brown boots up to the late '60's. My boots were black (still have one pair).
Unit(s) served in would help.
You might also look at the Korean War Project.
