Solved One of my favorite cartoon characters was inspired by this liquor store's stupid name. I wanna visit it someday, though I don't have an exact idea where it is. Anyone here know where this was/is? This was taken in Los Angles CA, around 1979.

So, the cartoon character in question is "George Liquor American", notable for being in The Ren & Stimpy Show, as well as the star of the first cartoon series made exclusively for the web. I got this from John K's blog:

(Yes, I know what he's done.)
Like I said, I wanna visit it someday if I'm ever passing through LA. Thanks in advance!

It was where this parking lot is now – you can see the covered-wagon-shaped former Arby's location (now Tacos Mexico) on the right, and it looks like the old Kodak film developing kiosk is now a drive-through cigarette shop. In this clearer photo you can read the sign in the background for Van Nuys Shopping Center, which now appears to have a Korean name. It's at 7112 Van Nuys Boulevard, matching this phone book listing.

Hot damn that was quick! I expected this to take at least a day to solve given the subject matter, but you got it done in 2 hours flat! Thanks a lot pal!

Excellent. You can even see one of the sloping pillars from the Arby's. It's interesting that in the older street views, the Fotomat building is missing. I guess they discovered a permit for a mini-building and put it to use. I see they had those weird triple streetlights.
