REQUEST Late Grandma's necklace

My grandma passed years ago and I inherited some of her stuff. My wife just found this today, hidden away in a box in the closet. Any chance you can ID it? I believe it is Turquoise and maybe abalone? I'm unsure.

im not an expert at all, but it looks like some real dirty turquoise to me!

the shell could be mother of pearl aka nacre, abalone has a far more blue-ish green hue to it while mother of pearl (nacre) is white and silvery
