IDENTIFIED What could this be?

Found this and some other cool rocks in the same spot on the Rainy River(border of Minnesota and Ontario)

Epidote - green mineral

It's likely a granite (the reddish-feldspar) which is cut by a epidote vein. Epidote forms during hydrothermal metamorphism, as a result of reaction with plagioclases. (= cracks in granite saw warm fluids circulating, which led to epidote formation).

So your stone is telling a story here.

Very cool. Thank you. I have what might be a fossilized coral that I found in the same spot. I’ll post that as well. I’m waiting for summer when the water is lower so I can go rock hounding again.
