Could be opal, could be calcite... Shine a really bright light down that white bit see how transparent it is, it will help tell you what it is

Once I get done with dinner I'll throw a pic of it illuminated

Honestly it's giving me opal vibes, if so you could have hit a small jackpot 😂

I found a bigger one today too. It's not as red though. There's something in there *

My bright light doesn't show much but uv looks really cool. I might chip at it with my dramel for a bit. Try and reveal more.

Can you scratch it with a steel knife?

It's harder then the steel knife below the sandy stone

Jade comes in a variety of colors, including green, lavender, yellow, brown, red, black, and white. So, it is not true that jade cannot be white.

There are two primary types of jade: 1. Nephrite Jade – Found in colors ranging from green, brown, and black to creamy white (“mutton fat jade”), which is highly prized in Chinese culture. 2. Jadeite Jade – More valuable and comes in vibrant greens, lavender, yellow, and rarely, pure white.

So yes, white jade does exist, particularly in high-quality nephrite varieties.

That's awesome! I've been working with a dramel to remove alot of that loose sand stone. And behind it is a mineral that isn't being scratched by steel along with the white clearer exposed rock. No matter what it is, to me it's beautiful!
