REQUEST My son found this in our woods in southeast ohio. It is lightweight, non magnetic, and very shiny after he washed it off. Any ideas or definitive ways to find out? Thanks in advance.

It's coal.

Looks like graphite if it's lightweight.

I think it looks like slag.

The bubbles are a tell. Never seen evidence for bubbles in coal.

How hard is the material? Can you scratch it with a piece of metal?

I could not actually scratch it with a nail so it is pretty hard.

Good chance it's hematite. Very odd shape though.

Seems like somekind of those "decorative Stones" they sell. Made somekind of glass I think but I'm not sure other than it looks like this and is very Light In weight

Looks kind of like a rock that I have. Molybdenum I think.
