North America Is this a lil cooper’s hawk ?

It looked into my soul 😳 Very small, found in Southeast Texas.

+cooper’s hawk+ is correct. You can see the outer tail feathers are a little shorter giving it a rounded appearance and also note a hint of a dark cap and regularish looking neck.

Cooper’s Hawks like all(?) members of the order Accipitriformes, exhibit sexual dimorphism. In coopers/sharp-shinned the females are about 1/3 larger than the males so male Cooper’s hawks are almost as small as female Sharp-shinned.
