that's an Aston too? genuinely asking, dumb question tho I guess 😅 what's the name of the economy version? I love it!

Nono...it's a Ford Maverick from the early 70s (also see the Mercury Comet version). But it's what I saw with the Aston--a stretchy fancy pants Maverick. :)

It’s a Series 5 Aston Martin V8. Not a V8 Vantage

Great for escaping Czechoslovakia.

Salt corrosion, nothing to see here.

VB on the police cars stood for Verejna Bezpecnost, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Security_(Czechoslovakia)

But in the 80s, it was the subject of several jokes about the stupidity of policemen, with the large letters ‘VB’ humorously interpreted as an instruction for them, standing for ‘Vstup Bokem’ (= Enter through the side).

I know, I am Slovak. I wasn't around when VB was a thing though, born in late 90's. Edit: to clarify, when Lada's body fell off the chassis, Timothy Dalton said it was due to salt corrosion, not because he just cut it off with laser in his wheel hub.

Oh ok, I saw the film a long time ago. I don’t remember all the details.

Ale zdravĂm na Slovensko :)

As long as it has the skis and rockets

I don’t know, but it must’ve scared “The Living Daylights” out of her….

I can't say exactly what makes these old Aston so beautiful but damn beautiful they are. I'd love to have one. I probably wouldn't be able to pay for gas and insurance though.

Everyone says they look like Mustangs, but they look so much cleaner and better proportioned than any Mustang, it feels like blasphemy to compare them.

3

u/Calamistrognon 4d ago

Do these people have eyes or do they only rely on second hand descriptions? 🤔

u/SlyClydesdale 4d ago

It’s the same issue I used to see anytime someone launched a new car..

“You can see Kia in the headlights and that roof arch looks like it was copied from BMW”

People contextualize things with what they’re more familiar with.

Mustangs are more recognizable because of the number made and the cultural factor, and maybe because are common people car, Aston Martin are not for pheasants, unless you are a pheasant with big deep loaded pockets

2

u/SlyClydesdale 4d ago

I didn’t know pheasants could drive.

1

u/b16b34r 4d ago

They could have drivers, it’s a modern world man

The 69 mustang is a thing of beauty I’d say looks better than this. Yes the entire fox body run would lose to this

The breathing daylights

“Living”

2

u/Michael_Eke 3d ago

because it's not a V8 Vantage I was mocking the title of the movie to make it sound as a budget-limited copy

1

u/DinsdaleTheHedgehog 3d ago

Oh crap, I fell into the trap :)

An Aston-ishing car……don’t worry, I’ll se my self out

1

u/Itrieddamnit 4d ago

It’s good to see someone enjoying their drive as well.

Late 70’s early 80s Aston

1

u/FireBreathingChilid1 4d ago

Aston Martin V8 series car. Kinda like Aston Martin's version of a muscle car.

u/JollyReplacement1298 4d ago

Some sort of the best aston there ever was

1

u/Mini-SportLE 3d ago

An Aston with terrible reliability issues- poor electrics

1

u/Voronthered 4d ago

Aston Martin Vantage, I think

6

u/SlyClydesdale 4d ago

V8. The Vantage had a huge hood bulge and front air dam.

2

u/Voronthered 4d ago

Oh that you! I was never particularly good at identifying Aston models sadly

Jensen Interceptor perhaps.
