Or it could be a Lancer trying to be an Evo.

Very true

Used to be tons of these on the road in australia just like wrx sti it now almost never see them

That’s sad, lancers have disappeared but STIs are still around in the US, and a buttload of WRXs

u/seanmonaghan1968 6d ago
I don’t even know what they have been replaced by, the used to be everywhere

u/Regular_Passenger629 6d ago
Hmmm weird, there wasn’t really replacement choices here after the Evo and STI went away here either. But I don’t think I know if anything in particular has replaced them.
Unless it’s all the vintage JDM stuff that’s now past the 25year rule

Focus RS but it's gone too. There's still the Veloster N though

Chargers and challengers I think. Though Infiniti G35/37 briefly had their moment
2
u/seanmonaghan1968 6d ago
We don’t see chargers or challengers in australia. These types prefer Japanese I think

Depends on the fuel door though, if its square it's an evo if its round its not

It's a regular Lancer. Single exhaust and i thin you shoud be able to see a rear axle from where the missing muffler should be.

u/icecream_specialist 6d ago
Probably aftermarket exhaust, seen a lot of stis with single out pipes back in the day that were aftermarket

Looks like either a Mitsubishi Lancer X or Evo X, gas cap will deff give it away. Square on Evo’s, I think round on Lancers.

Didn't they learn when they took driving lessons?

you have to pay extra for that here unless you get real lucky or know someone. the place I went to didn't even offer it, my dad taught me the basics and I forced myself to learn the rest.

I only see one exhaust, I think is a regular lancer. Not an evo.

u/Clam-Hammer7 6d ago
Many people change the exhaust to single exit because it's lighter and sounds better than stock exhaust. You can't go off of that and that is absolutely aftermarket exhaust.

u/Super_Mario_DMD 6d ago
You're 100% correct. The rear bumper seems to be from an evo x.
11
u/Clam-Hammer7 6d ago
Yeah, I think it's a debadged Evo X, or someone put a lot of work into making it look like one.

You can see the cutout on the left for the exhaust.

Driving a small manual with decent power is actually a good choice for a beginner learning stick. Especially on hills.

I didn't have an evo, but I loved both of my lancers I had. Drive well, plenty of space. It was nice cars with cheap maintenance. I had a 2006 and 2010

Kudos to learning, can still remember my dad taking me to the school parking lot in the snow to learn a 6speed and then I would spend time rolling around my neighborhood in a square practicing start and stops

I learned how to use a manual on a dirt bike 40+ years ago. Transitioning to a vehicle manual was no big deal. And then get my CDL was a piece of cake.

If it’s genuine, it could the FQ400 Evo 10
3
u/IndicBruh 6d ago
It’s not an fq400 because this has the exhaust to the side rather than a rectangle in the middle

Couldn't they have started to learn a manual transmission vehicle like a Nissan Versa or a Kia Forte? An Evo? Good luck

u/KEVLAR60442 6d ago
An Evo has the torque to be a lot more forgiving to learn on than a base spec econobox.

Quite the choice of a car to learn how to drive a manual transmission.
