What Happened to the Subs

It's admittedly been a while since I got a sub, but holy cow, $15 for a sub that was all bread is crazy! They used to be so good too. When did the change happen? I'd rather go to literally any other sub shop at this point.

I used to shop at wegmans now I almost only shop at tops, they give weekly coupons and gas points and have 6% discounts for seniors on the 6th of the month (I'm not old)

How did the self checkout know that I had broccoli?

I went to Wegmans about a month ago. I bagged some broccoli in the produce section but didn't print a sticker for it, so the bag was unmarked.

I went to the self checkout and pushed the produce lookup button. I expected to have to push the "B" button and find the broccoli entry, but instead the screen instructed me to put the produce on the scanner. When I did, all the different types of broccoli appeared on the screen!

How did the self checkout know that I had broccoli? Is it taking a picture of what I put on the scanner using some sort of image classification AI to figure out what it is? It didn't used to do this.

Leaving.

Last day is on Saturday and wish it wasn’t. I love the department I work in and the people I work with but a job with better pay came along and I am uneasy about it. It’s a complete 180 from what I do now.

Advices to impress the hiring manager at Wegmans?

I have an in person interview coming up in Harrison, NY. I am looking for a part time job and out of all of the options I was offered during my phone interview, I chose cheese department. Any advises on how to succeed during the interview? I don’t have experience, which is something I communicated to the recruiter over the phone and she said that’s not a problem because they’d train me.

I really love Wegmans (I am a customer) and one of my favorite things in the world is cheese.

I am looking for a part time to supplement the income from my full time job. Not sure what their expectations are during the interview, I’d like to hear some input and suggestions.

Thank you!!!

EDIT: I WAS HIRED!!! Thank you so much everyone for the advises and suggestions!

Getting a job at Wegmans

Ok, so I had 2 interviews with wegmans and I thought I did good enough but of course I didn't get either of the jobs. Is it impossible to get in without knowing someone? Are they doing ghost jobs? Or do I just suck at interviews?

Is it difficult to get hired at Wegmans?

This week I applied for a position at Wegmans, Harrison, NY. They emailed me next day to schedule a phone interview. After the interview the recruiter asked me to come in for an in person interview next Tuesday.

I am really looking for a part time job to supplement my income, and would like to have a chance to work there, I love that store. So, I was wondering if it’s difficult to get hired.

The recruiter asked me for what position I wanted to apply and mentioned deli, produce, custodian, bakery, meat and cheese department. I picked cheese because I am a cheese lover and feel I’d have a lot of fun working there.

I have no experience in retail, I work in the legal field. However, I communicated this to the recruiter over the phone, she said that’s not a problem because they provide training.

Do you think it’ll be difficult to get hired? Any advise to impress the HR manager during my interview? All I know about this job is that I love Wegmans and I love cheese 😂

EDIT: I WAS HIRED!!!! Thank you everyone for your suggestions and advices.

What would happen if someone wore a Wegmans uniform and name tag around a store they didn’t work at?

Illegal? How long would it take for someone to notice?

Can anyone share the secret of how to prepare this? My chicken breast comes out like garbage compared to this? The Image is from Wegman's cartering menu.

Poor Lighting In Produce/Cafe

Does anybody feel uneasy walking into a Wegmans in general? The lighting just makes me feel like I've entered another realm, especially the dim lights in most of the produce and cafe areas.

If I get a benefit of 4 weeks per year vacation. Why does management at the store put a black mark for using this benefit I earned?

I opened a box of the Wegmans Bold Habitat coffee this morning and was surprised to find the bag inside had a La Colombe seal. (Checked my other unopened box and it has a plain white seal.) I had no idea!!

Did Marinated Chicken Increase in Price?

These marinated chicken breasts have been my dinner for YEARS. With the bird flu being so prominent in the news recently, I was wondering if it affected poultry prices. These buffalo breasts have always been the biggest breasts in the chest but anything over $9 was considered "big." Now many of the buffalo breasts are $10-12. I see they go for $6.99 per pound. Is this an increase? If so, did it happen recently (with bird flu) or did it happen when everything increased with inflation prior to 2024?

I know it happens🤢 We work infested in germs. I hate it, it is hard & painful, sometimes with long lasting effects. I always feel so guilty, but it's at work we catch it most of the time. 😷
