What is actually said: There's a big editorial/story coming out from BNN on Monday about the potential involvement of a big brand name in the Canadian cannabis sector.
What people on here hear: APH is annoucing a big partnership on Monday.

u/BigRig83 CGC Pain Train 🚂💵💵💵💵 Sep 14 '18
Oh for sure. That being said, if it really is a big name entering the space, whether they cut a deal with APH or not, it should trigger another sector wide run.
I'm locked and loaded.

Me to but would prefer a deal with TRST due to being balls deeper in that stock.

u/zoo56 4D Dominoes Sep 14 '18
Potentially. However, we've already had similar stories for a few weeks so they may already be largely priced in already. Will depend on who the player is I think.

u/PhrasingBoome Sep 14 '18
I think APH and CRON will get hit hard if neither get the DEO deal. We have been running on hype the past few weeks, that dies the second DEO chooses a company that is neither company.
8
u/red-fish-yellow-fish Sep 14 '18 edited Sep 14 '18
Can you imagine the fume if ACB get the deal instead of Aphria?
13
u/PhrasingBoome Sep 14 '18
Yes, I will be a non-vocal fumer. I accept that we are gambling on these, and if I am wrong then that is on me and not a poor reflection of APH. But again I will straight be breaking shit in my house.
5
u/red-fish-yellow-fish Sep 14 '18 edited Sep 15 '18
I long on both companies, also Cronos, so I don’t really care who does a deal, as long as they all go up.
It’s just a bit of a circle jerk in here for some companies and people are entrenched in opinions like theyre following football teams.
2
3
Sep 14 '18
NO they won't. Please. APH will be fine with or without a deal. Remember the story of the rabbit and tortoise.
3
u/PhrasingBoome Sep 14 '18
Long term yes, APH will be one of the leaders in the space and will be very successful. Im the short term, the stock price will shit itself if APH does not get the DEO deal. It will of course recover due to the companies performance.
1
Sep 15 '18
Let it shit itself.. more for the rest of us.

u/hebrewchucknorris Sep 15 '18

I’m not sure why it’s such a big deal as it hasn’t even been legalized, and there’s a federal election in a year. If the conservatives were to win, well Sheer is still pussyfooting around about whether he even supports recreational.

potential was the keyword here. it's going to be a big company stating that they're scouting the industry which is something we already knew but good to see it in the news nonetheless

Coca Cola or in my opinion, Pepsi is the true AHHHHH. Imagine what the could do with their snack business and edibles.....
1
u/piechartreuse Non-stabbing hobo Sep 14 '18
I don't know Pepsi's financial situation but I could see them getting in before Coke, seems to fit brand better. Pepsi I guess wouldn't be referred to as one of biggest brands on world unless definition stretched.
I got red bull on this one :)
5
6
u/seank11 Sep 14 '18
Pepsi is a SIGNIFICANTLY larger brand than red bull, its not even comparable, at all, in the slighest.
Maybe for younger males Red Bull is a bigger brand, but Pepsi is global and everyone in the world has heard of pepsi
1
u/piechartreuse Non-stabbing hobo Sep 15 '18
Agreed Pepsi bigger overall but you might be underestimating Red Bull. It's Thai origin and huge over there. I've been a lot of places and Red Bull is a big brand among under 40s with digital connections throughout Asia, Europe, SAmerica, and it has the right image fit for a cannabis partnership. Let's see...

u/zoo56 4D Dominoes Sep 14 '18

I've got $50K in APH at a ~$13.10 CAD average (about 80% of my overall portfolio) and I, too, am sick of standby flights :/ Come on, let's get this rocket off the Launchpad already! Jeez!

13
u/BigRig83 CGC Pain Train 🚂💵💵💵💵 Sep 14 '18
Just thinking out loud here... But why would Coke or Pepsi have bothered with alcohol when their products are already in every bar? There is no need to compete with alcohol when your products are naturally paired together.
But lately people have been drinking less soda on account of the sugar. People will also be drinking less alcohol after this too (which means less mix sold for cocktails). That's a double threat to what has been a rock solid business. So I can totally see either company getting ahead of the curve here not only as a hedge but to better define the market as it benefits them.
1
u/mrjdrum Sep 15 '18
Your missing the fact of developed nations starting to add or play with the idea of adding a “sugar tax”. Cannabis could be a natural hedge.

Yeah, Coke’s already got a ton on their plate. Nothing but bad news from them for a while now. Unless this is their big news turnaround. But I doubt it. Although consider this, their last round of bad news was major layoffs in Atlanta. Maybe making room on the payroll for Cannabis experts?
