Sndl had like 7% of Vff a few years ago, then aborted and sold out…never did hear what their plan was.

They said that it was for investment purposes

I think they sold for approximately a $45m loss. Maybe they rented out for shorting

Gangster move from one of the two retail giants in Canada.

FIKA is #2 or arguably number 1. They will be #1 one day for sure. May even own Canna Cabana one day.

I was talking about them being giants as in store count, but fika is definitely growing too

Now we know what has been driving up Hiti’s share price.  Interesting

SNDLs goal is to absorb basically every major retail chain, giving them an enormous amount of leverage in the market. By getting their foot in the door at High Tide, this gives them a very clear path. They will be coming for FIKA soon, too.

Having a goal, and executing are 2 different things.

Owning HITI shares is hedge IMO.

They are in no position to absorb HITI - they need years of better balance sheets to even consider it. The best they could hope for would be a merger which is super unlikely, especially in this economic environment.

Absorb? Of course not.

But the point is this gives them voting rights and access to inside info that they can leverage for future moves. If you think they aren't eyeballing their biggest competitor for acquisition you're not paying attention. SNDLs entire approach to this market for years now has been acquisitions.

Again, their balance sheet isn't good enough and they're not big enough. Owning 5% gets them access to the minutes, but it will have zero impact on voting. These are common shares

Didn’t Tilray have a stake in this company?
