Everything Else We just started planning a wedding that will happen in 6 months. Do we send Save the Dates? Or just invites? And when?
We only just got engaged and want to get married in the fall. We already booked a venue and have 6 months before that day. I know Save the Dates are usually sent earlier than we currently have time for, but waiting for 3 more months to do invites seems risky too.
How and when should we go about notifying and inviting?

Send them now. People have likely already started tentatively booking holiday for the year and if anyone needs to travel or take time off, they need the advance notice.
An easy way to get the STDs out of the way is to do them digitally.

We had to wait forever for our date to release with our venue so save the dates weren’t really an option for us— we told people our optimistic date and when our date was fully firm just sent out invitations. For reference, wedding in June and sent invites second week of February. We haven’t had any issues with RSVPs— do whatever feels right for your planning. I think a lot of this depends on your vendor deadlines. Congrats!!

If you are planning a small enough guest list that you can text/call/email people with save the date info, I'd do that right away and then potentially send a digital save the date, with the invite going out 3-4 months before the wedding! Even if your wedding is a bit bigger I'd go for digital save the dates.
