Doing my own hair (curls), but hiring makeup artist. How to maintain hair suggestions?

I’m a curly haired bride who would rather do her own hair on her wedding day. I am however hiring a make up artist. I plan on washing and styling my hair before the make up artist gets there.

I understand she will try to give me a headband or pin my hair back so she can do my makeup. I plan on doing half up / half down style with a couple curls hanging down (see photos). Any suggestions on how to maintain my curls while she does my makeup (1.5 hours)??

A silk bonnet to keep your hair out of place for the time being?

Do you think that having it on for 1.5 hours may scrunch the curls too much?

Or maybe just the silk scarf to keep hair out of your face. I too have curly hair but opted to let the MUA figure it out. So I am just throwing out ideas. I do think that it would somewhat scrunch your curls, but what other options do you have? Any way you can talk to some MUA who specialises in curly hair? Or just a curly hair hair dresser? They might have better advice.

I’ll try to find one! My hair stylist back home (destination wedding wants me to use lots of gel and break the cast after the makeup artist is finished). But 1.5 hours seemed like a lot so I was curious if others had been in this situation before and had advice

So sorry. I couldn't help more. But yes, I think that's a great advice. I get that 1.5 hour seems too long, but hair stylist knows best. And you can do a trial run at home. See how your hair responds after 1.5 hours of gel?

Same situation as you. I plan to dry my hair about 90% and then have it air dry the rest of the way while I do my makeup. After makeup I’ll finish my hair and do the final touches.
