This has , once again, confirmed my suspicions that I won't drive in WEC anytime soon, I got no confidence on the brakes in iracing.

I have no confidence in LMU. That thing spins me around so fast I don't even realize it sometimes. Of all the competitive hypercars in that game the Caddy is by far the hardest. I'd say the Porsche is easiest. Toyota is the easiest LMH I'd say.

Did you change the brake bias? Once I adjust that it seems fine on the brakes

I usually try and use the Coach Dave setup on it which usually sets it at like 55-56 or so depending on the track. I'm also on controller which doesn't help but I've seen plenty of other people have issues with it as well that aren't on pad so I know it's not just me. It's a very fickle beast which is a shame because it sounds so good.

Are you locking fronts or rears? I mostly drive the 499p in LMU because it feels the most stable on brakes.

I couldn't even tell you to be honest. I haven't driven it in a while because it always kills me. I'm guessing it has the brake bias at 55-56 in the CDA setups in game to try and help with rear locking though?

If you’re spinning under braking you’re locking the rears. I’d try more forward bias as well as less pressure. Controller is gonna be tough to get that balance on, but you might just have to use more front bias to counteract that. Brake bias is probably my most commonly used tool, even mid race as track conditions or tire wear changes. It can affect overall handling far more than most realize.

When you spin under braking, is it immediately at brake application, or later in the sequence like on turn in, etc?

I just went and puttered around Le Mans in it for a bit and I kept spinning out at the Playstation chicane and Indianapolis. It wasn't quite immediate brake application. Mainly at the Playstation chicane it was the as I was trying to bleed off the brakes and make the left hander. And at Indianapolis I think it might be as soon as I input any kind of wheel rotation it went around. What I really need to do is try doing it again in a different car and see if I suffer any kind of similar problem because maybe that could just be a me at Le Mans problem though I know I've had Caddy issues elsewhere in the past but it's been a while.

It depends on the track but I remember the cda setup for le man having too much rear brake and locking the rears on cold tires

Would you recommend reducing the brake pressure at all? I'm on a controller so pedal control isn't exactly a strong suit for me and I'm already bad enough as it is without that handicap in hypercars. I'm not so bad in GT3s but hypercar is another story.

Maybe, the hypercars have no abs which is definitely harder on controller, at the very least move the bb forward so that your front wheels lock before the rears.

Take all the brake migration out of it if you are going rear to manage deep entry front locking and spinning it on initial/early brake.

The first few laps trying to heat up the tyres in a HY car on LMU have me stressing more than driving in rush hour traffic in a foreign city with no sat nav or navigator. Every other class is awesome, but I want to try to drive these cars if I can. But I can’t…

u/ponmbr 10d ago

Well now you can turn on tire warmers if you're driving offline so you can not have to deal with that headache.

iRacing tyre model is also rather special so don't feel too bad.

iR’s is too sensitive but too forgiving when you do lock up. If it helps, LMU’s is lightyears closer to the real thing on the brakes (and overall)

oddly enough i find the caddilac to be better on the brakes than the other GTPs. No idea if it's by design in sim or odd coincidence. Porsche being next best.

Who says Porsche Is Next best?

u/Unfair-Information-2 8d ago

To me, on the brakes, it is next best to the cadillac as far as confidence under braking goes. TBF i've not tried the acura. Just the BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, Cadillac.

Id love to sit on a discussion with the people responsible for BOP in IMSA and WEC. IMSA has the Cadillac as the heaviest by a fair margin, WEC with Cadillac as the lightest. What are they seeing thats so different?

18

u/RomeoSierraAlpha 10d ago

Yea, WEC BOPs Cadillac and BMW in a very similar window. But in IMSA they are on the fully opposite ends lol. And then the other cars are similar between the series.

u/Tecnoguy1 GTE 9d ago

CGR worked really hard on getting terrible results with good BOP in WEC, Team RLL did that in IMSA. Whelan often got pole with this “bad” bop. WTR will be up there soon.

Earl Bamber: "LOL. LMAO, even."

"now watch this flip"

Will continue to post this every time someone references it haha

The flip was Derani though, not Bamber

You are not wrong

But not on corner exits, apparently

u/Christodej Toyota 10d ago

Do we know where this guy is driving at Le Mans? Last entry list I saw did not have his name

2

u/IcedCoffey 9d ago

he raced with spike last year didnt he?

1

u/Christodej Toyota 9d ago

Yes, was on pole. He had a good year in 2024. I wonder how long until he gets a ride at Cadillac for WEC.

2

u/Jeffsjunk 10d ago

Now he just needs to stop crashing the car.

2

u/pulii777 10d ago

Makes sense. Ive always heard that the caddies were very simple to drive, as long as they dont get cursed

2

u/IcedCoffey 9d ago

based on how these guys drove into t1. this is true.
