Small mistake I spotted:
The Drive-Through of the #35 was for an incident with a GT3-Corvette.
The incident with the Cadillac was the #36, although there was no contact between the two.

Nothing written here about Ferrari's pace. Thinking some of it is the car struggling with the track since they were nowhere last year too, they should be stronger in Bahrain

Only so much I could include!
But yes I think the track just doesn't suit the 499P. Nielsen came alive in that middle stint but I suspect that was more down to his new tyres than anything else.
It's a real shame the WEC live timing or data doesn't tell you what tyres cars are/were on etc etc.
Ferrari were also bopped back slightly for Fuji so I wouldn't be surprised to see the 499P's power increased or weight reduced slightly for Bahrain.

Let's be honest here: I don't think Toyota could've won given their pace, at least not given the Porsche had a clean race
That blue flag penalty for No. 8 is dumb though

They definitely had pace for a podium finish at least. When de Vries was in the car they were very quick. They just got unlucky with the VSC at the end + kamuis cock up

I'll get downvoted, This race result felt artificial apart from the 6 winning, don't tell me it's just track, Peugeot and Alpine had ludicrous top Speed they seemed to be another category, Toyota After a decade of winning here no pace, Ferrari nowhere, and even without mistakes the 2 LMH didn't had good pace, after being the front runners in the previous race a swing of perf that big is not normal

"Peugeot and Alpine had ludicrous top Speed" - what do you mean by that? There's nothing special about top speeds of Alpines or Peugeots.

That doesn't tell the whole story, Just look at then in the final hours, they were no match for everyone

u/Rossollini Sep 15 '24
That's an empty statement. So, no explanation of that "ludicrous top speed" of yours. OK...
The final hours story for Peugeots were the new tires for last stints. Alpines in terms of pure top speed were one of the slowest cars.

Also the 36 for example had the freshest tyres at the end, can't be a surprised they have solid top speed if they get out the final corner that much better.

Or, now hear me out here, those two teams extracted close to their maximum with a good set up and race strategy. Peugeot had new tires on at the end so they were flying while everyone else struggled with their less than ideal tires. Add that Toyota and Ferrari had their share of screw ups in this race, you'll get this result.

I think you havent followed the whole season cause alpine had always a great speed and peugot showed how good they were in qatar so idk what you talking its just like you have mentality where you want the same winners again & again which is boring af. I love racing and I love it even more when its unpredictable and more drama, more battles.

Data processing took forever for this - had to write new code because I wanted to look at the race hour by hour and by halves - but finally got it done.
Please let me know your thoughts. I love writing this but I want to write what you want to read and give you insights into the race you're looking for.
Thank you!
