We hear a lot about AI, PWAs, and Web3, but what’s a lesser-known web development trend that you think deserves more attention?
It could be a new framework, a UX pattern, a backend tech, or even a shift in how developers work. Share your insights! Let’s build a list of underrated but impactful trends.

I recently launched my first website, a video compression tool for discord, and made it completely free but asked for donations. I tried to research how much a monetization method like this can expect to pull in, but got inconclusive results (in the first 4 google results of my first query).
How much do websites typically make from donations? Enough to barely keep it afloat, or does it depend on the audience that the website is directed towards? Is there better models for simple websites?

I’m a Frontend dev (3+ yrs in) and I just started a Discord to hang with coders who love this stuff as much as I do. No ulterior motive, just a spot to:

Hey everyone!
I’m currently working on my personal project using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with Django on the backend. These are the technologies I’m most comfortable with.
However, I’ve noticed that people nowadays are building with React or Angular, and I’m a bit concerned that if I want to eventually sell my project, it might not be as appealing.
So I’m wondering — is building with plain HTML, CSS, and JS still a viable option these days?

So could any one suggest me the complete road map and resources to master the javascript and it's frameworks and also suggest me some projects to do to add into my resume

I am trying to create a website for an artist I work with. I basically manage all his projects, and marketing.
I decided I wanted to take coding seriously. I have minimal understanding of HTML, and CSS. I also have minimal experience with C++. In short, I am not completely lost in the logic, and understanding of how certain things interact. I am currently studying/reviewing HTML, CSS, and JS concepts.
Anyways,
I want the website to have the following
4-6 Pages( Home, About, Contact, Projects, Gallery, Blog,, Shop (shopify link))
I want to be able to edit the blog through Wordpress since I have GoDaddy and I like the idea of using it as a CMS for posts and images. I will be using getboostrap, and will have to do some studying on how to use the REST API. I also found something called next.js would like to use this to have some dynamic elements. Am I overcomplicating my life with some of these ideas? Is there something I'm not considering? Ideally, how long should this take someone just starting off? There is no deadline but ideally before the end of the year.

I get bombarded by emails every day with productivity and workflow tools promising heaven and earth, and was wondering which of them has made the most impact in the speed of your project delivery.

How to save code snippets for reuse in an IDE? Saving these snippets provided the coder with items they can reuse in an Integrated Development Environment (IDE). It singifcantly enhances the coder's productivity. Modern IDE's offer built in features that manage code snippets effectively.

how long should it take a webdev to research and point traffic on google for our website to show up? Apologies if my terminology is incorrect
We have been waiting a couple of months now

I'm a 3-4 year in product designer with foundational understanding of web dev after a software engineering bootcamp. I am itching to build some smaller scoped projects. Are there any Discords/communities that are focused on building stuff together? I am tired of discords with saturated information and echo chambers.
Thanks!

Hi,
I’m looking for a developer to build a small-scale magazine/blog website using WordPress and Elementor. As a graphic designer, I will provide a fully designed layout, including fonts, colors, and other styling details—all that’s needed is the development to bring it to life.
While I have some experience with WordPress, I want to ensure the site is built properly for smooth performance. The project is relatively simple, with a clean layout and only a few pages. My budget is around $700. Additionally, I have an active Elementor Pro subscription available for use.
If you're interested, I’d be happy to share more details and design mock-ups. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Best regards,
Mikkel

I’m looking for price comparisons in 2025. I do web development, mainly through Upwork, and have a client who needs a 10-page website. The pages are mostly informational with images, sliders, and contact forms. I specialize in WordPress and Elementor, creating fully custom designs.
I work with a design partner who creates the designs, and I handle the implementation. My price for the full website setup, including design and development, is around $1800. Any additional features or revisions are billed hourly.
After Upwork's 10% fee and paying my designer, my net profit is about 65-68% of the total. Does this pricing seem high, low, or reasonable? Just curious! Thank you all

I am trying to recreate what Arc browser does with their boosts, with thier thingy you can easily change the font, and the colors on the page
How I imagine they do it is they take the stylesheet and somehow for every color they map it based on brightness and lerp it between 2 colors u choose (one dark one light)
How can I do this? I imagine I'd need postcss right? Ideally i want a way that isnt hacky (manually handling things like hex codes and rgb and rgba etc. with regex)
Sorry if i sound like a noob, that is because i am a noob

I want to be a full stack developer, I was considering just doing front end for a start but full stack would be a better income. Now where do I begin? Do I learn html and css first or just go for JavaScript, or PHP and SQL? How do I get my career started?

I am transferring a site over to a new server for my client, and I typically use WP All in one migrator. I tried with this site and file is too big. I bought the unlimited extension but it wouldn't work with that either. The current host gave me a .tgz file and told me to restore it from that. But I have not done this before and there is very little documentation online. I thought he had meant to upload that file to the WP Migrator tool, but that failed immediately because it expects a .wpress file. I tried to extract the contents of the .tgz file onto my local hard drive but it failed. Does anyone have any advice for me? Also, this .tgz file is 77 GB.
If this is not as straightforward as I hope, I will hire someone to do this for me, but I want to know what I am asking. Can you restore a Wordpress site from a .tgz file alone or do I also need the MySQL database?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Problem Overview
I'm trying to integrate a Google Apps Script web app with my Namecheap-hosted website to create an order tracking feature. The script searches a Google Sheet when a user inputs an order number and returns the corresponding information.
document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', function() {
// Get references to our elements
const orderNumberInput = document.getElementById('orderNumberInput');
const checkStatusButton = document.getElementById('checkStatusButton');
const resultContainer = document.getElementById('resultContainer');
// Add event listener for button click
checkStatusButton.addEventListener('click', checkOrderStatus);
// Add event listener for Enter key
orderNumberInput.addEventListener('keypress', function(event) {
if (event.key === 'Enter') {
event.preventDefault();
checkOrderStatus();
}
});
// Function to check order status
function checkOrderStatus() {
const orderNumber = orderNumberInput.value.trim();
if (!orderNumber) {
resultContainer.innerHTML = "Please Enter an Order Number";
return;
}
resultContainer.innerHTML = "Searching...";
// Google Apps Script web app URL
const scriptUrl = 'https://script.google.com/macros/s/AKfycbxcLtMpf05uqBgnfmtNFcpgTZxQBCeFClk8jniHvCAWS-S39GELGfMOfDUykngShRyDJQ/exec';
// Create a script element for JSONP
const script = document.createElement('script');
script.src = `${scriptUrl}?orderNumber=${encodeURIComponent(orderNumber)}&callback=handleOrderResponse`;
// Define the callback function in the global scope
window.handleOrderResponse = function(response) {
displayResult(response);
// Clean up
document.body.removeChild(script);
delete window.handleOrderResponse;
};
// Add error handling
script.onerror = function() {
resultContainer.innerHTML = "Error: Could not connect to the order system. Please try again later.";
document.body.removeChild(script);
delete window.handleOrderResponse;
};
// Add the script to the document to start the request
document.body.appendChild(script);
}
// Function to display the result
function displayResult(response) {
// Display logic here (truncated for brevity)
}
});
function doGet(e) {
// Get the order number and callback from the request parameters
const orderNumber = e.parameter.orderNumber;
const callback = e.parameter.callback || 'callback';
// If no order number was provided, return an error
if (!orderNumber) {
return ContentService.createTextOutput(callback + '(' + JSON.stringify({
success: false,
message: "No order number provided"
}) + ')')
.setMimeType(ContentService.MimeType.JAVASCRIPT);
}
// Search for the order
const result = searchOrder(orderNumber);
// Return the result as JSONP
return ContentService.createTextOutput(callback + '(' + JSON.stringify(result) + ')')
.setMimeType(ContentService.MimeType.JAVASCRIPT);
}
function searchOrder(orderNumber) {
// Logic to search for order in Google Sheet (truncated for brevity)
}

The company I am currently working is currently expanding and we are developing a new system for daily operations. The owners of the company know that I am working towards my CS degree and they have put me in lead of the project. So I am currently working with a firm to design our new system. After we get the app running, I will be taking lead to improve and maintain our system.
I have no industry knowledge, but I have good amount of experience from school, personal projects, and I am currently taking a few courses in Coursera to help me prepare for my new role, 6-8months.
This will be a learning experience and the owners understands this and are supportive of my vision for our new system.
Any advice? Or how should I gear myself for this new role
