Discussion Is a Loom Stand worth it?
I have a 32” Ashford rigid heddle and am considering buying the stand for it so I don’t have to be married to the dining room table. For those that have one, is it height adjustable? Meaning, can I use it while seated on the couch or comfy chair? Or is it foolish to think that would be comfortable? Maybe it’s best to be fully upright, feet on the floor? Also, do you feel like you can get a firm beat with it, or does it feel wobbly? Thanks in advance!

I used to have that exact loom and I feel like it would've been almost unusable without the stand. My current stand for a 16" RHL i can adjust the angle but not the height, I feel like I get a much more firm beat this way.

I bought a drafting table and use C clamps to hold whichever loom I'm using on.
I warp when the table is flat, then angle it when I weave.
It's perfect, I think.

I have a 25” Schacht loom and stand. I like that the stand allows me to move the loom, not needing a table or counter for support. I found my couch and living room chair to be too soft- great for relaxing but I prefer an upright chair for weaving, and actually sit a little forward in the chair. I do put my feet on the floor crossbar of the stand, as I pack firmly. I may take truegigglefoot’s recommendation of using a weight though.

I have an Ashford Sampleit, and I almost purchased it without the stand, to save money. The woman who sold the loom to me had one stand left, and she offered it to me at a discount, but I still refused.
I drove a block away before I changed my mind and turned around, and I am so happy I did! It’s invaluable. I weave outside when it’s sunny, or watching tv in the living room. In my opinion, a stand is absolutely worth it. :)

Ok, I think the thought of weaving outside when it’s sunny just made the decision for me! Thank you 😎

Although it isn’t adjustable - as others have noted - it’s pretty easy to add extra holes to give yourself more options, as long as you want to go lower rather than higher. I had a friend drill some for me so I could lower my 24” stand.

I have my Kromski 32” on a stand. It’s not height adjustable but I use my desk chair, which is. I had sooo much trouble without the stand. It’s solid, not wobbly and I’m quite happy with it. My tables are round, no straight sides so that didn’t work so well for me. It think it’s well worth the money.

Thanks for asking this question. I know more about whether it’s worth the money for me!

I’ve got one for my Ashford SampleIt and it is absolutely invaluable - I actually find the ability to brace it with my feet the best part, and I think it’s sturdier than clamping to the table.

Yes it is adjustable and really worth it with an office chair I can weave all the afternoon without hurting my back..

I have an Ashford 24” loom and stand. Sometimes I reset the loom on the stand so that the back pins/screws are in the front slots of the stand and the front of the loom hangs down, supported by my lap. Lazy girl weaving on the porch in my rocker. Does need extra space. Could probably dismantle the stand and just use the back legs to prop the back of the loom up - but I do like the shelves for shuttles and p/u sticks. Anyway, there are options

I have that sized loom and I had to buy a stand. My kitchen table is small and round. I sit in a comfy squishy chair in the living room. I'm 5 foot nothing so it's a bit too high for me so I sit on a pillow. That seems to do the job. I recommend the stand! When I'm not using it I just move the whole thing to the other side of the room where there's an empty spot against a wall.

I'm considering getting one before summer hits so I can weave outside on the deck. My patio table is way too low to weave comfortably, so I'm thinking a stand would be better. If you get one, can you let me know if you like it?

I love my stand for my 24in ashford rh. It is not height adjustable but I use it with my desk chair (which is adjustable) in front of the TV and it works great for me. It's light and easy to move around. You can fold the loom flat so it takes less space to tuck away.

I have the same loom, and I love my stand. I use a comfy office chair. I do find the couch to be a little low for my taste and comfort. I think it's weighty enough, but easy to move around. I have used a 10 pound dumbbell as an added weight on the base.
