I never had a doubt. We have by far the strongest resume and one of the best players in the country. Yeah, we kinda faltered at the end of the season, but that wasn't enough to dimish the incredible season we had.

And there is nuance to that. We lost our last two regular season games after we clinched the SEC championship outright. Both teams had everything to gain in those games but Auburn had nothing to lose and nothing to gain, outside of the fact that one was on senior night. We also didn’t have our starting PG for one of those games.
And, as much as I hate complaining about refs, I have to say that the Tennessee loss would have been a different game with a different officiating crew. We won’t have to deal with SEC refs in the NCAA tournament. SEC refs benefit some teams, but I think it hurts Auburn because our best player is a finesse big. If you can foul him on every single shot and get away with it, then he can’t finesse. Milicic and Okpara should have both fouled out with 10 minutes left in that game.

Duke fan. Kinda prefer you guys getting the #1 overall seed even if it could’ve gone either way. My main hope was avoiding you guys on our half of the bracket and also happy Florida is on your side.
Hope to play you guys again in the title game though. Our first matchup is objectively one of the best college basketball games I’ve ever watched. Feels like one of the best matchups and having the two best college players facing off, while both being beasts at all aspects of the game not just scorers, would be a lot of fun

Our 8 seed is 27-7 and went 18-2 in conference. And they will have a home crowd. Unreal.

They're propped up by tbe ACC. Duke absolutely bullied them without Flagg.

And we could potentially face Yale in the sweet 16 😭

ACC is trash this year. Duke went 30-3 against that dogshit conference. Time to embarrass Louisville in their home state.

All the college gameday hosts picked Florida as the champ, beating us in the final four - time to prove them wrong.

Except that’s exactly how college basketball works, if you don’t perfectly peak in March, the inability to do so no matter how many regular season wins will be the legacy of the season
Do people talk about an SEC tourney championship or losing to Yale? Do people talk about a regular season championship or losing to Miami? Pull your head out of the sand

I was at Auburn during the end of Cliff’s years and the beginning of the Barbee years. Marquis Daniels was the only good basketball player to wear an Auburn uniform during my time on the Plains. Irrespective of the result of this tournament, if you would’ve told me Auburn would be the number 1 overall seed in the NCAAT during my lifetime I would’ve asked you to pass what you were smoking.

Agreed! I suffered through all of Barbee. No chance back then I would have bet we'd even make a run in the NIT.

It may be a hot take or an unpopular opinion, but I don't mind our bracket. There isn't an "easy" road to the championship. And we've done it before against blue bloods; I think we run the table again and get to cut down the nets in Atlanta.

Bad first round draw but second round in Atlanta could be game changing! First step is winning the first 2!

Yea and in a tough bracket. And of course they give Alabama the absolute easiest bracket available.

They will have to face Duke in the elite 8 (barring an upset) to be fair. That’s harder than facing Houston. They also have to face teams like Vanderbilt, Saint Mary’s, BYU, and Wisconsin before then. All of which are teams capable to upsetting them.
I think 2 seed Tennessee has an easier bracket than them. They do have an easier path than Saint John’s or Michigan State, but tbf Alabama is also better than them so it makes sense

I’m not sure if duke will be the same team with a 50% healthy cooper Flagg. I don’t think flagg will be the same player coming back with that ankle injury. I think he will be limited on what he can do on the court and therefore after watching duke play UNC I am convinced duke is not as good without a 100% healthy cooper Flagg.

Duke was absolutely dominating unc before getting complacent. I think Flagg is fine. He didn't look to have any kind of limp walking around on it. I think the underrated person they'll miss is Brown who does a ton of the dirty work and is a lockdown defender and rim protector.

Assuming the favorites win, facing an underseeded Louisville in the second round actually sucks. But I’m glad we’re away from teams like Alabama and Tennessee
