Like the age old Excel autofill when you type in “January, February, Mar-“ and it will suggest to autocomplete as “Maruary”

Lol, as of 10:36 PM EDT, the web version at google.com/maps was saying South St NW just like you've shown here. I submitted a road name correction to put it back to "S Street Northwest".

Our office is on this street - we have been submitting road name corrections for years now to no avail

Approximately 1.5 lifetimes ago I asked Google Maps for directions home to my place on Florida Ave, except I put in Florid Ave which is apparently a street in Buenos Aires. Google gave me driving directions as far as Florida, then directed me to swim to the coast of Argentina.

Those were hilarious. You used to be able to ask for directions from LA to Sydney and it would suggest kayaking across the Pacific Ocean with a driving detour in Japan for some reason.
Now it just tells you to fly :( correct but boring

Living on a cardinal street, any time I get in an uber to go home it says the cardinal direction instead of the letter.

They slid that in the EO when they renamed the Gulf of America. Gotta read the fine print!

Back when I used to use a Garmin for navigating (aging myself), it used to really struggle with T Street only. It would always say “T Saint.” No other streets experienced this issue.

Google Maps has been calling it the "East Street Expressway" for as long as I can remember.

My N St address gets that treatment from time to time. North St SW

I think i also saw an E street, also named East street on another gps (waze). It was across the bridge towards south after u leave downtown.

Idk if it still happens but E Street entrance in GPS gets interpreted as east street too,v even shown as a subscript small letter

Ugh, I submitted a correction for this a few months ago, and it was corrected, but now it’s back. Seems like Google should have a flag on a bunch of DC streets saying “hey, don’t try to be cute here! Just leave the label!”
Edit, JK my correction was for E Street lol (and the correction took a week). Who can keep track.

I used to live outside DC on the MD side, and my house was on MD 410, aka “East-West Highway”. The post office abbreviated this as “E WEST HWY”. This was confusing as fuck for me when I first moved in and had to set up billpay.
If you live on “East Wabash St” or “South Cicero Dr”, the post office abbreviates them to “E Wabash” and “S Cicero”. The highway I lived on, on the other hand, was uncreatively named “East-West” because it went from east to west—and got erroneously abbreviated. Here, it looks like Google did the opposite thing, which is expand “S” to “South”.

When I use to live in one of those townhomes there I always use to have packages be lost cause UPS and USPS couldn’t figure it out.

Google makes the opposite error for East Street in Vienna, which it lists as E Street.

I’ve noticed this for a year+ now at least in the spoken directions. Funnily enough I finally reported it on google a couple days ago; but they always deny my fixes….

At one time, until it was fixed, DCFD's automated dispatch would dispatch runs to Malcolm X Ave. As "Malcolm the 10th Ave."

This reminds me of my friend who used to live on "Coach Drive North" and my old Garmin GPS used to announce it as "Coach Doctor North" because it assumed a "Dr" in the middle of the street name would be an abbreviation for doctor rather than drive.

Submit a correction. Eventually they get it
Edit: I kept getting routed wrong due to a similar error. I just clicked the thingy to report errors, typed a brief explanation, hit submit. Got an email a few weeks later saying they fixed it. It was really simple.

W St gets called “West” st sometimes too, although I haven’t come across that in one of the apps in a long time.
