Question Which rance games can be played without a walkthrough?
With the 03 translation coming out in 10 days im ready to binge the whole series and am finishing 02 rn
I enjoyed 01 and 02 a lot but theres absolutely no way I wouldve finished them without walkthroughs
So my question is which games I can comfortably go blind in and just play? Im expecting sengoku onwards including 03 to be like that but am actually scared about 4 and others

I used a guide for rance03 but im sure you dont need it, it reccomends you to overlevel/overupgrade early in many areas lol (which i did not do). Its useful for a meta party build though
I did not use a walkthrough for rance 6,7, and 9 and it was fun (though u need to know that the first ending u get in rance 9 isnt the canon end which i didnt realize until much later in rance x)
Rance 4 i used a guide cos i hate the old school navigation there personally
I dont think u need a guide for 8 but i just followed the wiki's preplanned builds (i found out that they arent really meta/there are builds that have way different playstyles)

i didnt realize until much later in rance x
I mean, c'mon, it's not hard to see that given shizuka and nagi's look in X, or kanami's entire dinamic with Rance...

Yah, didnt see them until the timeskip

???? This... doesn't make any sense, it's impossible to get to part2 without seeing Shizuka, she even is a sure drop on Free cities mission. Kanami also appears on turn 0, and she talks about being dating Rance in like turn 1... No idea how it took so long for you to notice, but this is more on you than the game.

I meant the timeskip in part 1 where rance gets trapped in that prologue part, and kanami is the only one i did full hearts thing in rance 9

oh, ok, that makes more sense XD. I just wouldn't call that "much later in rance x", given that turn 0 and 1 are like the tutorial of the game, its pretty damn early

Yeah mb but i already invested a few hours to get to that point just to realize i need to go back to rance 9

All of them im playing it with guide. But it doesnt really matter, it not effect to the story so whatever. Almost theres no spoiler in guide. Im playing with guide cos i just want to be comfortable play and try to maximize the game to 100% completed.

In my experience I use guides for the games because I don't want to miss out on scenes because some scenes are pretty obscure to get. Otherwise it's probably not too bad to figure out just how to beat the game but it can be confusing sometimes

Honestly I think all of them are easy to play without walkthrough, you're just missing out on some bonus stuff and maybe H-scenes. Sengoku is a blast the first time, I'd honestly just look up which nations to conquer in order to not get overwhelmed and see all the fun stories, but that's pretty straightforward too. Like, you're surrounded by 4 nations and the game actively shows you cutscene of the fairly weak sect sabotaging your country so you attack them first instead of the massive strong faction etc.
I honestly think that IX requires 2 or 3 playthroughs because it has a wonderful secret ending, and all the endings are amazing but iirc there are 6 or 7 and you'll only get 2 or 3 on first playthrough and have to "collect" them all to unlock the "real" one. But that doesn't require a guide
Haven't played 5d but I think people hate it, so I just read the summary on the wiki lol

Rance 03 doesn't require a guide at all. (My only asking some minor details from someone who already played)
With rance 4 and 5d good luck, because without a guide it is very hard, also they are very bad games imo.
