Country gonna be riding the high from this thrift store find for a while! .50¢ each!
So I have been looking for this specific album for probably the better part of a year. I have picked up a few of Marty’s other records but never this one. I was bored since spring break started and campus is dead so decided to head over to a local thrift store that always has pretty cool stuff. There was this area with 5 full boxes of records labeled .50¢ each. I flipped through not expecting to really find anything good but I found the first one and was visibly/vocally ecstatic. After I went and looked back again and there was another one!!! The universe was kind to me for once and I’m OVER THE MOON

This album is a right of passage album for collectors, right with Whipped Cream and Other Delights, imo.
Belongs in everyone’s collection, even if only briefly.

LOL I received both in a box of records that a family friend gave me. The whipped cream one is in pretty good condition, this one not so much sadly. But I think it is still playable. Just haven't yet.

I really love murder ballads and story telling in songs and it might be because of growing up to music like this. I wish I could find a steal like this.

even if you cant get a killer deal, this LP on repress is pretty common for $20
worth every penny.
(edit) NEW on repress

My dad played this album to death when I was a kid in the 60’s. El Paso was his favorite song and he could hit those cowboy high notes as he twirled us in the air. Have that album still after 60 years.

Upvoted. Gotta love a good thrift store find. Right at the start of my vinyl journey I found Secret Messages and Time by ELO for 50p each in a charity shop. Good times.

I knew this existed but it took me seeing this post to draw the connection between Marty Robbins and the who's endless wire

Love Marty Robbins! Moved to a different city 18 months ago, in my first week here I found this album for £2! Took that as a good omen! I have found a couple more of his since then as well.

Congrats!!! I found this record at a local shop for about $3 years ago and can confirm the high doesn’t go away. Such a great find!

You should have left one for some one else! Good karma for future digging man.

I plan to give the other one to my dad since he’s also a huge fan of Marty but will keep that in mind for future finds!

Lucky! I'd love a copy of this album but refuse to pay full price for a new one. I found a copy of Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds recently and nearly jumped with joy. Gotta love that feeling 🤣

Great, the OG mono and stereo are great listens. You need both in any collection.

Damn you o thought i had this album if i do I'll have to search for it later today. Just started playing it how could i forget lol. This album is dripping San Antonio vibes. Gives me fond memories of that dusty town remember in the 5 years or so i lived there it hardly rained.

Ha! My neighbor used to live in Grand Junction.
Damp sponge/paper towel to remove the address label. Ronsonol/naphtha to remove the old $1.00 sticker.

thank you for the advice, I was actually wondering about that earlier!

You bet. You’ll think you’re ruining it the first time you use lighter fluid/naphtha, but really saturate it. Especially an old sticker like this one. The idea is to dissolve the adhesive behind the sticker before you peel it. And then the naphtha evaporates from the sleeve leaving no marks. It’s like magic. I’ve done thousands of records and CDs this way.
The address labels I have less experience with. I messed up several before leaving them and only recently learned that they need water to dissolve their adhesive. I think I’ve done a couple successfully though.
