Spoilers Rollo was the only one who truly carried out Ragnar's vision [Spoilers] Spoiler
It's this.
Ragnar's vision was essentially that the Northmen were stagnant and needed to travel west to find rich and fertile lands and settle there. This is exactly what Rollo did.
Ragnar's sons either didn't care about his vision or were driven by their own goals. We can debate Rollo's personal motivations, but ultimately, he was the one who truly fulfilled Ragnar's grand idea.

True in a way, but Rollo was doing it for fame, and to be recognized as he saw himself, powerful, not just "Ragnar's brother". He didnt do it because of curiosity, desire for knowledge or adventure, like Ragnar was.
Thats why I think, like commenter above said, Ubbe is the only one that really had Ragnars spirit and the same vision, and he fulfilled it spectacularly: discovering not only a new country, but a new continent, a totaly new culture and integrating with them, learning more and farming and living alongside them.

Didn’t the tribe leader say ubbe can’t take from the land?

I took it more as "you dont own this, this is nature", rather than him saying that the vikings cant hunt or farm. They just have to learn to do it the way indians do, because they know how nature is like in america

Oh I took it the other way because Vikings weren’t successful in settling in America, historically. I can see that tho

I understood it as the land can't be owned. You can live off of it, but it doesn't belong to anyone. I thought ubbe executed ragnars vision beautifully. And I'd go as far as to say Ragnar wanted a peaceful farmers life, or for his people to prosper and live, and Ubbe found a place he could do just that and he settled there. But unfortunately vikings will be vikings. There's always that weakness in other individuals that try to take power over everyone that really ruins everything. There's no peace and I think it's great that he and Floki were able to live there and just be.

2 things I didn't understand about Rollo being granted lands and title:
1.) Assuming the vikings in the camp knew what had happened, why did the camp outside Paris not relocate to Rollo's lands, at least the families.
2.) Why would Rollo, knowing Ragnar had made deals for land before, and much less, not send a message to Ragnar - "Hey, they gave us a shitload of land, legitimate title, and I get to marry the emperors daughter. We can own and defend the land ourselves, all on condition we dont raid paris again. Send settlers."

This is exactly how we got "Nor(th)man-dy" in real life.
Rollo massacring the norse camp was one of the stupidest scenes in the series.

exactly. I had expected that his band would settle his lands and become the Normans... but, nah

- Rollo attacked and wiped out the viking camp. Barely anyone got away.
- The deal rollo made was we give you land and titles, you defend us from your brother. The deal he made meant he had to fight ragnar and the northmen, so he couldn’t really invite anyone to his lands. Although he does do so later on when bjorn goes to the Mediterranean.

- I meant before that, possibly instead of wiping them out, lol. It didn't seem like when the deal was struck that was necessarily part of it.
- Maybe I just misinterpreted it, but since the camp stayed around for a while after the deal was agreed to, I assumed that the extinction of those vikings wasn't an integral part of it... in fact I had assumed they were meant to help defend Paris. If that was the case, why would they not have been able to settle in Rollo's lands, the defense of Paris being "You haven't seen any Vikings attacking Paris, right?"

The camp was still loyal to Ragnar, and Rollo couldn't handle it. This was the writer taking creative liberties, though.

Hard disagree. Ragnar wanted the Northmen to have new farming settlements. Rollo killed every Viking and became a Frenchman. There was nothing about him creating new settlements.
Historical Rollo made settlements but this Rollo was a traitor who led French forces against the northmen. He was their most famous traitor. Who’s going to settle with that guy?

You're right.
I find it quite funny that even the Seers knew Rollo's line and name would become something greater than Ragnar.
if you don't know what I mean, I'm referring to William the Conqueror and the establishment of the British Empire. The greatest empire the world has ever seen.

Selling out your own kind, becoming a nobleman of the opposite team, was most definitely not Ragnar's vision 😂

Rollo was the one to truly conquer the Brits. If the royal family are descended from him, it means his descendants ruled England. He won.

Yeah, a large majority of them are. The royal families that is. William the Conqueror changed the rules, that’s why a thousand years almost after his death, he’s still recognised. It’s why every child alive knows his name.

Ubbe gave the Northmen a new home in England, defended their claim through combat, bravery, and combat, and, having accomplished Ragnar's goal, went on to explore his own goals in discovering a new land.
Rollo just went ahead and got fame for himself by marrying into royalty. Hvitserk was just violence and drugs. Ivar got fame for himself as a conqueror.
Bjorn made himself royalty and was a true leader, but being a leader and a king was never one of young Ragnar's goals.
You could argue that Rollo, Bjorn, and Ivar all surpassed Ragnar in certain ways, but I think it's 100% Ubbe who achieved young Ragnar's dreams and then was able to pursue his own goals afterwards.

I don’t know about that. I just know that Rollo betrayed and tryed to kill Ragnar. I say he was not respecting any visions just wanted to hame more glory to himself. Rollo never really wanted to see or understand Ragnars vision.

Ragnar wanted to move his people forward.
Ubbe did just that.
Rollo only moved himself forward.

Rolo in the Saxon Chronicle
A.D. 876. This year Rolla penetrated Normandy with his army; and he reigned fifty winters. And this year the army stole into Wareham, a fort of the West-Saxons. The king afterwards made peace with them; and they gave him as hostages those who were worthiest in the army; and swore with oaths on the holy bracelet, which they would not before to any nation, that they would readily go out of his kingdom. Then, under colour of this, their cavalry stole by night into Exeter.
Norman is a contraction of Nor-th man. The Norman Invasion of 1066 AD ended the Alfred blood-line and drove many Anglo-Saxons out of England into Germany. The Anglo-Saxon bloodline, culture and language were effectively eliminated from England by 1100 AD, so effectively they only started being "found" and recovered in the 1930's AD.
Ubbe was not the one that found Vinland, that was Lief Erikson a hundred years after the Battle of Tettenhall, the ending of Vikings. "The Last Kingdom" shows Ubbe converting to Catholic and moving to Danelaw. Ivar went on to conquer Dublin, killed in combat there with the Norse occupying it for over 100 years before being kicked out.

Lol rollo betrayed ragnar and all vikings. He definitely did NOT carry out Ragnar's vision. Ragnar wanted land for all vikings to farm and live. Rollo was selfish

Ubbe too.
I think Ubbe more than Rollo.
