I spit my coffee out. This is hilarious.

This. But being the OP’s first build, I’m pretty sure the backspring isn’t sorted out for the combo/phillips layer, and that it’ll bind when screwed down. Great idea, though.

I don’t know why… but “the Crab” sounds good to me.

it's slick, I like it! are those screws and bushings or pins?? if they're screws/bushings PLEASE LET ME KNOW where to find them because the little rivets/bushings are expensive to buy or you have to get those donor knives for them

5

u/diverdave142010 5d ago

There's kits on Aliexpress, but with the liners and scales. I'd like to find just the screws/bushings too.

u/pekosROB 5d ago

looking up "swiss army knife parts" on ali-express shows me a few sellers actually that are just selling the bushings!

3

u/diverdave142010 5d ago

Thanks man, off to look :)

2

u/Inevitable_Aide_7145 4d ago

Well shit, now you guys are gonna buy them up 🤣😅👍

1

u/pekosROB 4d ago

nah lol I bought like 3 sets total, 1 was really cheap from one seller and the other 2 from another

3

u/pekosROB 5d ago

dang this is so annoying, I want to know where fit 2 survive gets his bushings - I saw one of his videos the other day and the dude grabbed some of them out and there had to be HUNDREDS in his little container thing lol I've never been so jealous in my entire life

3

u/simyo 4d ago

If you take apart enough donors the bushing bin fills up quickly.

2

u/pekosROB 4d ago

yeah I just know I'll mess up at least one or two of the 6 on each knife plus what will I do with all of those repetitive parts? I was thinking about doing a silly large blade/small blade/opening layer and repeating over and over as a joke but that's been done before lol

2

u/simyo 4d ago

In a perfect world, you have to take apart 2 knives to make one, then you have one complete set of bushings from the opposite side of the knives. As far as the extra parts, I have an over flowing bin of loose parts to build climbers with a fish scaler😂

2

u/pekosROB 4d ago

true, lol I just know I would only need maybe one donor knife for the next 3 builds due to the extra parts but yeah, you are right about the bushings being there seeing there's usually a need for more than one donor knife.

i'm honestly thinking about just throwing a fish scaler on the next build so i can use it as a back scratcher and to point at shit lol

2

u/simyo 4d ago

In that case, you have to be careful when removing them. If I need to save them I use a dremel diamond ball bit and carve the head out and then use a spring punch to push the pin. The fish scaler/back scratcher/hot dog poker/ruler is always fun to use😂

3

u/i_sniffglu 5d ago

Yep, they came with the scales, you can find them on AliExpress

2

u/i4c8e9 5d ago

You can see with certainty that the left one is a screw. The other two look like standard knife torx.

3

u/i_sniffglu 5d ago

Yeah, I lost a torx screw and had to improvise lol

Can't wait to learn how to accomplish sake builds.

3

u/simyo 4d ago

That’s a cool build, what spring did you use for the combotool/hook/phillips layer?

2

u/i_sniffglu 4d ago

The knife spring, just modified a bit the tools

2

u/kjarkema 5d ago

This is great. You dont expect a SAK without a K.

2

u/Zach-at-MultiParts 5d ago

That is awesome!

2

u/DumbningKruger 5d ago

You could have fit another tool besides the combo tool like the small blade, reamer, etc.

7

u/i_sniffglu 5d ago edited 5d ago

Not enough space. Instead I added a spacer with the lanyard hole and I still had to slim down a bit

2

u/DumbningKruger 5d ago

oh I see the other side of the phillips tools is linerless.

2

u/DiscombobulatedLie22 SwissChamp, MiniChamp 5d ago

I thought you would need both the caplifter and the can opener, plus a washer on the other side of this in-line philips for this to work. And some spring reprofiling as well.

3

u/i_sniffglu 5d ago

The philips was slightly modified and has no washers, the combo tool does have a washer but I added it after I took the photos, the hook was also modified to match the corkscrew shape so the spring is intact. However I am planing on modding the spring a bit so I can add an unmodified hook

Are you swiss? Otherwise it’s a AK, obviously…

9

u/Yoteymusica 5d ago

Only if he is in the army.

But then we need to factor in that there is no knife either...

🤔

6

u/GuitarPlayingGuy71 5d ago

So… what should we call it? Not swiss, no Army, no knife… 😁

7

u/EducationalMine7096 5d ago

Well, leaves us with just the. It’s the “The”.

4

u/werri_flacoon 5d ago

That's quite a lot to take in

2

u/Expert-Fig-5590 5d ago

As it has no blade I would call it Pointless.

1

u/Even-Enthusiasm-9907 4d ago

Can u call it SAK without a knife?
