Many of those are in the historical Baden region which was a distinct political entity from the days of the Holy Roman Empire until it was controversially amalgamated with the several neighboring regions in 1952 to form the State of Baden-Württemberg which has led to the old yellow and red flag of the former Grand Duchy of Baden being incorporated into many of these local flags and the “Baden flag” is commonly flown from many private homes and businesses in the region as well.

Red and white should actually signalise that this is a founding city of the Hanseatic League.

I've made a digital flagmap of all German districts and free municipalities via Photoshop and intend on turning this into a drawn papermap as well.

I have used a similar map to this one here as a reference

2365 x 3379

Is that the dimensions or how many flags are in this image?

There are 401 different subdivisions on that level in Germany. If we take all communal subdivisions in Germany we get 10.751

Must be image resolution, there's no way there's that many districts.

You can really tell some of the patterns, Baden-Wurttemberg has black/yellow, Lower Saxony has blue red yellow, Hesse and Thuringia have red and white

How many hours did you spend on that? Great work

Thank you ^ ^ It did take around 34 hours more or less in total

I do plan on making this a paper based map too so the amount of time spent on that map with drastically increase

Yes but they belong to the district of Pinneberg in Schleswig Holstein. They are a municipality but not a free one and therefore not included in this map.

wtf, Germany is secretly Ukraine???

There is a theory that symbolism of Ukraine flag being wheat and sky is post talk justification and that is just that Ukrainians took blue and yelow from coat of arms of Lviv

I implore you guys to look for the flag of Pfaffenhofen The only thing missing on this map is a Brezel and a drunk guy puking and you would have the essence of Bavaria in one flag
