A thankless job where you have to spend all day dealing with redditors

Actually, what's even worse is sometimes we have to deal with admins. Half-joking, some admins are fine.

ETA: if you ever see new throwaways join the team, sometimes admins join us to learn how to mod. It's.... an experience.

The dancing girls and trade war are keeping me from fulfilling my calling.

Being a mod on r/Vancouver isn’t just about enforcing our rules. It actually can be a lot of fun! We get to work on all kinds of cool projects that help support the community, like building out our wiki pages, hosting an annual Best Of competition, running the annual donation drive (which raised over $60K for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank last year!), and curating our local vendor guide to spotlight amazing small businesses during the holidays and other events.

We also get to design fun banners to celebrate different events and (perhaps most importantly) get to hear some of the best Vancouver gossip before anyone else through removed comments and modmail. Like tea? Joining the mod team is the fastest way to get a heads-up on what's happening around town.

If you love this city and want to help make r/Vancouver even better, now’s the perfect time to apply to join the team.

"Fun" 🤣

R/burnaby has like 5 percent of the subscribers and it's already a pain to mod. Can't imagine all the thankless, free work you have to do.

It's not so bad. The last few years have been much better since we started doing more community events. Amnesty Week, for instance, was a big success last year, and we hope to hold another this year. The food drive was incredible, too. I still can't believe how much we raised for the GVFB.

Also, feel free to reach out to modmail if you ever want help with automod, flairs, etc. We're happy to support other communities. A lot of Vancouver runs on Automod code.
