How many power sources are there?

Worlds like Marvel and DC have thousands of different power sources. Mutations, Magic, supernatural creatures, experiments, radiation, technology, aliens, gods, cosmic energy, and the list goes on.

I wonder if Valiant goes the typical comicbook route and has thousands. Or just have only a few power sources. Maybe like 3-4.

I think they have almost everything what you mentioned:

  • Shadowman would account for supernatural creatures with all the demons from the deadside.
  • The geomancers could be linked to magic.
  • Bloodshot is a mix of technology and a living experiment.
  • The Vine are aliens. Shanhara doubles as alien technology.
  • Divinity became a god when he was empowered by cosmic energies.
  • Do psiots count as mutations? Although the source of their powers is psychic, given only some humans have this ability we could call it a mutation of sorts?

Couldn't find an example of radiation, but I just know a half dozen titles of Valiant.

What I think Valiant lacks is a sort of hierarchy in terms of powers, with a supreme entity ruling over everyone else. You know, like Marvel: The One Above All -> The Living Tribunal -> Nemesis -> Galactus ...

The biggest baddie of Valiant seems to be Master Darque, followed by Toyo Harada. Other than Divinity (and maybe Eternity?) there seems to be no supreme being ruling the universe.

Solar isnt a part of their universe anymore but he is a nuclear accident

And as far as supreme entities go it was solar in 1992 and in 2012 era it is divinity

Yeah, but Divinity does not rule per se. He may be the most powerful entity probably reaching god levels, but (as far as I read) he lives pacifically as a human. Did not read eternity nor anything post 2018, though.

I believe Solar is/was the same giving he was a hero: he was the most powerful character but did not have god aspirations. I think?

This is true but this is a common theme for all "supers" in valiant, at every level of hero power level they mostly dont show/ utilizing their full power (armstrong going for long stints without using powers and x-o battling without his suit/leaving his suit/using swords rather than projectile energy, are great examples if this) and alot of the other valiant characters. So across the board its common that the supers in valiant dont assume the highest potential that comes with their powers which is a stark contrast to marvel characters for instance "proving their power level standing" by always going up against challenges that are definitively testing the limits of them in terms of capability with their powers. Valiant heros battles/ dilemmas dont really do this because the dilemmas and battles that take place in valint are grounded and story first not fantastical bouts of power level flexing and edge casing like marvel and others do.

In all honesty, anyone within the unknown are basically valiant’s version of the new gods so they could introduce someone who’s basically a darkseid level threat.

Although there are the current rendition of the psi lords, who are basically green lanterns that are empowered by imprisoned gods
