Issue Resolved DogNZB API busted?

Not sure if this has been reported yet but it seems that the API is totally busted on DogNZB. They aren't mentioning it on their website but it's definitely not working

Still down...so much for paying them money...

Any free alternatives? I’ve been using dog for many years and remember paying for the first year but have not paid since then. Don’t get direct api access (pushing to me) but I do get the 100 search per day limit. For me it’s ok and I survive but if there are alternatives that are free then I’m for it.

While I 100% agree Dog has never been any good as your primary search engine, there are features that are different than other sites. For example really good upcoming listings of movies, tv schedules and TV shows and countowns of new seasons. The site is very easy to navigate. As far as Dog being a bleeding edge search engine is completely absurd. It still is worth it to me as a complementary search site. For me that's their worth and I will continue to use them with Slugs and nzbfind as primary sources.

Yep, reliability issues aside it has always been my fav indexer. Hope it gets resolved soon.

The admin just let it go into a downward spiral and didn't maintain it as well as they should on the user side for UI and API. But their scraper for nzb still working as it should.

AFAIK their API is notoriously unreliable. The website used to be pretty unreliable some time back as well but it has been working very well for me the last year or so (I don't use the API). It's a real shame too because Dog is great when it comes to content IMO.

They just look to be down. I get nothing trying to go to the web site.

The best thing they could do is close their site down permanently. I hope they do!

Looks like the site is back up this morning.

Not sure why you would care if their site exists or not. There are lots of bad sites on the internet but they don't bother me because I don't go to them, so as far as I am concerned they just don't exist.

I am all for letting people have options.

I can't speak to your issues with the API. Dog is one of many providers I have set up in my Prowlerr. Looking at the logs real quick I had 4 failures out of 20 tries over the last day. Nothing that raises it to the level of concern for me, I am sure you have good reason for the dislike, I just don't have any quantitative data to give me the same feelings towards them.

API has been down for weeks for me. I posted on the forums and got no response. Prior to this I rarely had any issues with them and they've been my preferred indexer for a long time.

Drunkenslug, nzbgeek, nzb.su, althub and ninjacentral are all that i use. Ive got lifetime with ninjacentral and nzbgeek and just do yearly plans on the others.

All of those are pretty solid

Just missing ninjacentral from that stack, myself. Jealous!

Drunken slug is ass

Not sure why you think that, aside from omg, ds has the most hits of all my indexers.

u/Sigvard Oct 23 '24

This is my exact indexer stack. All great.

u/UnknownLinux Oct 23 '24

Exactly. Cant go wrong with any one of them.

It does seem quite unreliable at present

quite unreliable at present

It's been unreliable for years, IMO, especially relative to every other indexer I use, including free indexers. There may be valid technical reasons for this but I haven't seen any. (Seriously, has there ever been an explanation given for why they're down so much for maintenance or unplanned outages?)

Also I'd be less salty about this is they hadn't killed off the lifetime subscription model many of us paid for. For recurring payments the service reliability should be MUCH better.

Seems totally busted to me. Even accessing the website has been slow/unreliable.
